About this deal

If one of them stores up fewer words to spend on the other in the evening, does that mean they care less? Both constantly push conflicts away with a “Talk about this later”, not just because they’re out of words, but because they don’t want to face their problems. And it makes them, and us, more aware of telling linguistic tropes – like how Bernadette uses “really” as a qualifier when she’s trying too hard, as in “I really love it” when talking about Oliver’s music. In fact, in this oh-so-talkative play, it’s the physicality which is most striking (superb work from movement director Annie-Lunnette Deakin-Foster), along with moments when the duo break into song. It’s a compelling argument for art as a means of expression – for when words just aren’t enough. So here am I, not only cis but wearing Cos: a natural target in an evening that points out how weird it is to whoop if asked if you are white or straight. Yet being targeted is not what it feels like: the joy and success of the evening is in bringing a sense of enlargement, not only to the stage but to the audience. For once, a piece of work that talks about exclusion does not itself exclude. Some dresses are gorgeous, some like satirical armour, some uncanny. They are so expressive they are practically animate Alongside Josie Rourke on the creative team are designer Robert Jones, lighting designer Aideen Malone, movement by Annie-Lunnette Deakin-Foster and costume designer by Kinnetia Isidore.

It will be directed by Josie Rourke (BAFTA and Oscar nominated Mary Queen of Scots, currently directing As You Like It, Soho Place). But, whatever you choose to read into it, Lemons only works if you buy the chemistry between its two characters – and Coleman and Turner are a powerfully charismatic double act. Her Bernadette is whip-smart but defensive, using a chipper brightness to mask resentments. Turner creates an effective contrast with his looser, brashly charming but sometimes childish Oliver, who negs her when he’s feeling insecure. Sometimes their jagged pieces fit perfectly together; sometimes they just wound each other. Also available: a special edition of the play with a revised text and introduction by the author, published alongside the West End production in 2023. Writing Lemons Lemons Lemons Lemons Lemons taught me how to be a playwright. I hope it speaks to now in a way that I couldn’t have predicted then. And I hope to keep learning,” said playwright Sam Steiner. Recommended: I wish I were still teaching because I would use Lemons to explore friendship and appropriate expressions of anger. I think younger middle-grade readers interested in amateur detective work will find the inclusion of Bigfoot fun to think about! Lemons will be a perfect parent/child buddy read, too.Two of the UK's most popular film and TV stars are teaming up to perform in a highly-anticipated new theatre production that will head to Manchester fresh from a West End run. The Serpent and Dr Who star Jenna Coleman and Poldark and The Hobbit star Aidan Turner take the leading roles in the provocative play Lemons Lemons Lemons Lemons Lemons.

The play will also run at Manchester Opera House (21-25 March) and Theatre Royal Brighton (28 March-1 April).Sam Steiner said: "Writing ‘Lemons Lemons Lemons Lemons Lemons’ taught me how to be a playwright. The opportunity to revisit and grow the play all these years later and bring it to a larger audience with Josie, Aidan, Jenna and an alarmingly inspiring creative team is thrilling and confounding in equal measure. I hope it speaks to now in a way that I couldn’t have predicted then. And I hope to keep learning." Sound of the Underground is at the Jerwood Theatre Downstairs, Royal Court, London, until 25 February I read because books are a form of transportation, of teaching, and of connection! Books take us to places we’ve never been, they teach us about our world, and they help us to understand human experience.” The fun is directed by Josie Rourke (BAFTA and Oscar nominated Mary Queen of Scots, currently directing As You Like It, Soho Place) and Designed by Robert Jones. Lighting Design is by Aideen Malone and Movement by Annie-Lunnette Deakin-Foster. The Associate Costume Design is by Kinnetia Isidore, and more members of the creative team will be announced shortly. What's the plot of LEMONS, LEMONS, LEMONS, LEMONS, LEMONS? Sensing Others through Dancing Bodies as Data: Review of Sense Datum by UBIN DANCE 26th November 2023

Nice to MITEM you: the 10th edition of the Madách International Theatre Meeting Opens in the Hungarian Capital 27th September 2023 Steiner, who in later plays imagined Kanye West’s reincarnation as a middle-class Brit and built a story around a game of table tennis, described Lemons as “a romcom about communication on both a personal and political scale”. He added: “I think the play’s central exploration of the way we derive meaning from language, its capacity to both liberate and limit us, to connect us and keep us apart, has only grown more resonant in the years since it was written.” The Lemons Lemons Lemons Lemons Lemons play is an unconventional story. At the start, audiences meet a lawyer named Bernadette and a musician named Oliver. If falling in love at a pet cemetery wasn’t strange enough, the pair are then restricted by a Quietude Bill — a new law states every person can speak a maximum of 140 words a day. The average person will speak 123,205,750 words in a lifetime. But what if there were a limit? Oliver and Bernadette are about to find out.The changes in the dynamic between them come out in the roll of Turner’s shoulders and the quizzical tilt of Coleman’s jaw. These are detailed physical performances in a play about words." Although lemon peel is highly nutritious, lemon juice also contains some worthwhile characteristics. For instance , drinking lemon juice while eating bread has been shown to lower blood-sugar response in healthy adults. The study authors attribute these results to the acidity of the lemon juice, which slows down starch digestion. This research may be helpful for people with diabetes, who are trying to manage their blood sugar. Lovers Oliver and Bernadette find themselves living under the rules of legislation that requires them to speak no more than 140 words a day. Lemons is a magnetic and moving look into the importance of what we say, how we say things and what happens when we can’t say anything at all. The play's about a relationship amidst a political and social chaos/crises. There's a bill being passed - that restricts one's 'voice'/usage of words to 140 a day. The couple argues on and off - about everything - but they never have enough words to express themselves. I personally think that their actions 'expressed' enough what they couldn't express through words.
