This unique tread rubber mixture which is only produced in our German factory has revolutionised bicycle tyres. We’d advise against using Continental’s own Revo Sealant though, as it struggles to seal bigger holes unless you add some extra particulate to it, plus it’s expensive.

Better than ever before, the new Continental ProTection casing. The extra all-round puncture protection layer renders the casings especially durable and insensitive to damage or penetration from foreign elements. Treads and sidewalls are equally protected, and are 25 % lighter and offer 30 % more puncture protection than their predecessors protected by DuraSkin®. Rolling resistance and absorption has also significantly improved. The new Made in Germany technology allows it to withstand even the hardest trails across the world.

IMPORTANT: If you sign that the item as 'has been received in good condition' you will have no claim later if the product is found to be damaged. One is the traditional size like 700x28c or 27.5x2.2. The first figure is the tyre diameter(size). The second is tyre width. Note: road bike sizes are in mm, MTB sizes are in inches. Apex takes the ProTection carcass and adds a teardrop section elastomer strip from the bead to the tread edge to increase tire damping and reduce the chance of snakebite rim punctures at low pressures.

We recommend you use recorded delivery or registered post to return items so as to cover yourself against loss. You want to leave at least 4mm clearance between your frame and tyres to prevent rub and allow for mud clearance.

ProTection goes four-ply under the tread and three-ply on the sidewalls, with an added layer of Cordura to stop cuts and sharps rupturing the tire. It gets a ‘flag design’ on the sidewall for rub resistance and it’s now properly, easily tubeless-ready. As the name suggests, Apex tires get teardrop elastomer protection embedded in the sidewalls for low-pressure stability and impact damping. It’s built into a six-ply carcass with a super secure steel bead for surviving the most brutal DH and bike park use. That makes Apex tires about 30 percent heavier than a Protection Apex though. Continental relies only on the most reliable materials and technologies. As all-mountain tyres with Enduro ambitions, they are the perfect companion for sporty rides in mountainous terrain or on mountain bikes.
