About this deal

In mathematics, a fraction is a number that represents a part of a whole. It consists of a numerator and a denominator. The numerator represents the number of equal parts of a whole, while the denominator is the total number of parts that make up said whole. For example, in the fraction of 3 Use long addition to add your number columns from right to left, carrying as you normally do for long addition. Insert a decimal point in the product so it has the same number of decimal places equal to the total from step 1. Proceed right to left. Multiply the ones digit of the bottom number to the next digit to the left in the top number. If you carried a digit, add it to the result and write the answer below the equals line. If you need to carry again, do so.

Starting with the ones digit of the bottom number, the multiplier, multiply it by the last digit in the top number Metal Supplies™ have been supplying the UK building and construction industry with all types of structural steel for many years, including a wide range of Mild Steel Steel Hollow Sections: square, rectangular and circular. Treated timber, also known as Tanalised timber or treated wood, is a type of timber that has been dried and cut to a desired length before being pressure treated with preservative chemicals. This process makes the wood more durable and long-lasting, meaning it’s less likely to rot or split, and protects it against insects and fungi. This makes our treated timber especially ideal for outdoor projects too. Converting from decimals to fractions is straightforward. It does, however, require the understanding that each decimal place to the right of the decimal point represents a power of 10; the first decimal place being 10 1, the second 10 2, the third 10 3, and so on. Simply determine what power of 10 the decimal extends to, use that power of 10 as the denominator, enter each number to the right of the decimal point as the numerator, and simplify. For example, looking at the number 0.1234, the number 4 is in the fourth decimal place, which constitutes 10 4, or 10,000. This would make the fraction 1234

as shown in the image to the right. Note that the denominator of a fraction cannot be 0, as it would make the fraction undefined. Fractions can undergo many different operations, some of which are mentioned below. This process can be used for any number of fractions. Just multiply the numerators and denominators of each fraction in the problem by the product of the denominators of all the other fractions (not including its own respective denominator) in the problem. EX:

Long multiplication with decimals using the standard algorithm has a few simple additional rules to follow. When you've multiplied the ones digit by every digit in the top number, move to the tens digit in the bottom number. Generally available in 7.500 to 7.650 Metre lengths in Grade 43; however other lengths and grades are available. For your information Kg/m refers to the Kilograms per Metre of the section, as an example a 4.200 Metre length of 48.3 OD x 3.2mm (CHS) Circular Steel Hollow Section (3.56 Kg/m) would weigh (4.2 x 3.56) 14.952 Kg's Total. 21.3 OD x 3.2mm (CHS) Circular Steel Hollow Section (1.43 Kg/m) Generally available in 7.500 to 7.650 Metre lengths in Grade 43; however other lengths and grades are available. For your information Kg/m refers to the Kilograms per Metre of the section, as an example a 4.200 Metre length of 40 x 40 x 3mm (SHS) Square Steel Hollow Section (3.45 Kg/m) would weigh (4.2 x 3.45) 14.49 Kg’s Total. It is often easier to work with simplified fractions. As such, fraction solutions are commonly expressed in their simplified forms. 220Fraction subtraction is essentially the same as fraction addition. A common denominator is required for the operation to occur. Refer to the addition section as well as the equations below for clarification. a In engineering, fractions are widely used to describe the size of components such as pipes and bolts. The most common fractional and decimal equivalents are listed below. 64 th

the decimal would then be 0.05, and so on. Beyond this, converting fractions into decimals requires the operation of long division. Our friendly team will be happy to discuss all of your hollow section requirements, so why not give us a call today on 0800 123 70 10 for advice and to get our latest prices. alternatively, drop us a line at: [email protected] Our range of sawn treated timber is available in a variety of common sizes suited to a variety of different construction applications, ranging from roof batten, 3x2 timber, 4x2 timber and up to 9x3. We have both C16 and C24 strength graded timber joists. Arrange the numbers one on top of the other and line up the place values in columns. The number with the most digits is usually placed on top as the multiplicand. Proper fraction button is used to change a number of the form of 9/5 to the form of 1 4/5. A proper fraction is a fraction where the numerator (top number) is less than the denominator (bottom number).

The first multiple they all share is 12, so this is the least common multiple. To complete an addition (or subtraction) problem, multiply the numerators and denominators of each fraction in the problem by whatever value will make the denominators 12, then add the numerators. EX: Similarly, fractions with denominators that are powers of 10 (or can be converted to powers of 10) can be translated to decimal form using the same principles. Take the fraction 1

Rectangular hollow sections are not as common as UCs and UBs. This is down to the fact that it is much more difficult to bolt it to other beams or to bolt other members to it. They are also available in mild steel to make drilling and welding easier. the numerator is 3, and the denominator is 8. A more illustrative example could involve a pie with 8 slices. 1 of those 8 slices would constitute the numerator of a fraction, while the total of 8 slices that comprises the whole pie would be the denominator. If a person were to eat 3 slices, the remaining fraction of the pie would therefore be 5When a is a fraction, this essentially involves exchanging the position of the numerator and the denominator. The reciprocal of the fraction 3 Generally available in 7.500 to 7.650 Metre lengths in Grade 43; however other lengths and grades are available. For your information Kg/m refers to the Kilograms per Metre of the section, as an example a 4.200 Metre length of 50 x 30 x 3mm (RHS) Rectangular Steel Hollow Section (3.45 Kg/m) would weigh (4.2 x 3.45) 14.49 Kg’s Total. Unlike adding and subtracting integers such as 2 and 8, fractions require a common denominator to undergo these operations. One method for finding a common denominator involves multiplying the numerators and denominators of all of the fractions involved by the product of the denominators of each fraction. Multiplying all of the denominators ensures that the new denominator is certain to be a multiple of each individual denominator. The numerators also need to be multiplied by the appropriate factors to preserve the value of the fraction as a whole. This is arguably the simplest way to ensure that the fractions have a common denominator. However, in most cases, the solutions to these equations will not appear in simplified form (the provided calculator computes the simplification automatically). Below is an example using this method. a
