About this deal

Johnstone’s Aqua Guard is really nice for spraying. Follow manufacturer’s advice in regards to thinning it first. I’m painting a 70s staircase which currently has a varnish finish and will be going to white satinwood. Should I use Whitson’s or BIN primer? Key Specs – Paint base: Oil and water hybrid; Approx. coverage: 10-12m 2per litre; Touch-dry time: 1-2 hours; Recoat time: 4-6 hours; Other colours available: Yes

I should mention that it is just a standard satinwood paint so it’s not going to win awards for its bomb-proof durability any time soon but it does dry to a solid finish that can withstand scratches and scuffs. Regardless of what product you’re using, you always need to prepare interior wood before painting. For previously painted timber, I abrade with sandpaper, then fill and caulk as normal.

The Deterioration of Oil-Based Paint

Furthermore, unlike WRX Trade Satinwood, which doesn’t need an undercoat, I always find that I get my best results with Aqua Guard when used in conjunction with the Aqua undercoat. Of course, purchasing the undercoat paint is only going to increase the cost of the job which is why I’ve put this paint in the medium budget range. APPLICATION Do not apply in damp or humid conditions or room temperatures below 10°C. Stir well before use. Ready to use. Mixing ratio for thinning is 5% maximum, if required. Suitable for application by brush or roller. For best results, load the brush generously. Apply paint evenly and avoid overspreading. 2 coats are recommended. Extra coats may be required if the colour change is strong. The best thing about this product is how white it is. WRX satinwood is a pure, sharp brilliant white which absolutely looks spectacular. This really is an awesome product! It’s hard-wearing, easy to clean and usually very straightforward to use. While it’s most commonly found in only one or two shades of white, some brands offer a wider range of colours, giving you the option to truly personalise your space.

It’s got teeth, grips incredibly well and is resistant to scuffs and scratches. A great choice if you can afford it! The paint contains a mixture of 5-chloro-2-methyl-4-isothiazolin-3-one and 2-methyl-2H-isothiazol-3-one (Cas No:55965-84-9) and may produce an allergic reaction. I was asked to try this out by spray and rather than using my airless, Idecided to put it through my Qtech Q5. The adhesion of this product is awesome for an acrylic and the finish is very durable. WRX could easily be the best aerosol I’ve ever used and I’d recommend it to anyone. You can read a full review here.

This section is based on my personal preference, but I have been in the trade over two decades. Choose one of these products and you won’t go far wrong. In high traffic areas, satinwood can sometimes become dirtier than other types of paint finishes. It is recommended not to wipe it down too much. Other than that, it is rather durable and holds up well through time. That’s part of the reason why it has become such a popular and trendy choice in recent years.

In terms of slip resistance, I would say that Bradite Floor-It ranks the highest out of all the paints on this list. It has fantastic adhesion and dries to a hard finish that provides plenty of grip when walking on it. A satin finish is usually silky and smooth paint. When dry, it keeps quite a fair amount of sheen and looks somewhat pearly. It reflects much more light than matte paint does and holds up well when washed often. It’s often used in areas that receive high traffic like kitchens, children’s bedrooms, and bathrooms. PREPARATION The surfaces should be dry and free of any dirt, dust, oil, old paint residues and loose textures which cannot hold itself. It is recommended that wood stain be used on the raw surfaces to be painted for the first time. First, the surface should be sanded lightly and wiped with a damp cloth to remove any dust prior to painting. Best result can be achieved by applying the paint with a brush along the grain of the wood. All tools used should be cleaned with water. I know it’s expensive, and as a decorator I tend to use WRX Satinwood on most jobs, but Scuff X is a different level. This is the paint I have started using in my own house and you can really notice the difference in quality when you see it. It’s easy to use and really does look awesome.Perhaps the best feature of the Aqua Satin range, though, is the incredibly wide variety of colours. While there’s an impressive range of neutrals and pastels, you can also find this satinwood paint in everything from rich, dark reds to bold, bright blues, making it perfect for those looking to create a unique and vibrant space.
