About this deal

The plot is a classic, which is why it has to be done particularly well and ideally with a creative twist to set it apart from the rest - sadly, this version just didn't have that. Unbeknown to Amber, her former friends have also been suffering from their own psychological nightmares, each trapped and twisted into people they no longer recognise. I can't say It ruined an otherwise great book because I'd be lying. Without spoilers, the author suggests that CM can cause a recipient to develop their donors finger prints. Such total bunkum is totally unnecessary when there are many cases where a recipients blood type has changed and even alleged cases where a recipients DNA has changed post transplant. This is explainable if you consider donor cells creating blood cells and bone marrow but finger prints? Skin whorls that have existed since before birth?? How on Earth can anyone try and explain that out.

Jacob has been told that they have found a donor and he has his transplant. After the transplant, his personality seems to change. He smokes weed and looks at porn, commits murder. He splits up with his long term girlfriend Eloise after raping her. and eventually meets up with Rosie and he moves in. To be fair, 'The Darkness Within Ourselves' isn’t really the sort of book I would read but the author’s descriptions of depression, sleep paralysis, agoraphobia, and irrational anger make this an intriguing tale; clearly, this is a story that is very dear to the author’s heart and there are a lot of interesting, distinctive characters at work in the book and some subtle undertones carried through as well (a hint of mystery is prevalent, of course, but there’s also hints towards characters not being truly honest with each other and the true nature of people that is often hidden behind out everyday veil). I don’t know what to tell you guys. I’m so bummed that this book didn’t blow my mind. But don’t let me put you off at all. Especially when crime is your thing- definitely give this one ago- it explores quite a new ‘reasoning’ as to why a person acts bad. And whether you believe it or not, it’s bound to send a crime lover’s thinking process toward unexpected directions.Wow, I don't know if it was intentional or not but Jacob was one of the most stupid, nasty, despicable, immature main character I've ever read. His parents and their actions were also often questionable. I disliked they way they found excuses for Jacob's behaviour. Was I supposed to feel sympathy for the "poor boy" and his parents? ask about Ryan. The man says that Ryan was foolish like all the others he tried to warn and explains what the peril is.

I really enjoyed this and found that I was so engrossed in the story that I had finished it before I knew it. Some great mystery writing but also Jessica handles writing about grief and depression in very interesting ways with such awareness and decency. I was really impressed with how she handled the guilt and depression that each of the characters dealt with in their own ways and with their own chapters explaining how it feeds off them, I just couldn’t put it down! Overall, this novel is based around an intriguing idea (cellular memory would be an extremely frightening concept if it were real) and very readable but had a few discrepancies that some people may struggle with. It is a good debut novel (as technically this is the author’s first time writing this sort of story) but far from perfect, although worth a read for those looking for a different kind of psychological thriller. The premise of the story is well thought out, well written and emotional for all parties. I found myself Googling this Cellular Memory for any latest thoughts in this area. Our main protagonist is Amber, who suffers from severe nightmares and sleep paralyses and finds herself haunted by a terrifying entity she calls “The Creature”. Though her daily life is kept busy and relatively happy thanks to her young daughter, she carries a tremendous amount of guilt and has partially suppressed many of her memories of that fateful day. Her best friend, Brooke, has been effectively house-bound for nearly twenty years and is so crippled by agoraphobia that she can’t even bare to see the outside world, much less venture out into it. Tyler, once the strong, commanding leader type, has descended into a spiral of self-destruction and depression, while Jordan, Amber’s childhood sweetheart, lashes out in bouts of extreme rage and anger. Ever since the death of their friend, each has grown apart and seen their hopes and dreams ruined after vowing to never real the truth about what happened, which has driven a wedge between them and left them traumatised shells of their former selves. Yes, some readers may have an issue with the credibility in this story around certain events, but every book doesn’t have to be realistic. Sometimes it’s up to the reader to just be open minded and go with the flow. Credibility is not my ‘complaint’. I can overlook the vital elements that provide the foundation of the story and just enjoy the ride. It’s all about overall enjoyment for me. And in a way, certainly, The Darkness Within delivered an experience. I can truly say I won’t be forgetting this book for a while to come. Yes, the writing style let my expectations down, but the coincidences and characters’ behaviors will be playing in my mind for weeks to come.I have popped every cooldown I have, tried defensive stance, hiding out of LOS round the corner and bandaging - no success. Item level 327 if anyone's wondering. The first phase is just about survivable, and once you get him down to half half you have a brief period to heal up, but unless you're playing a class with natural heals you'll probably be going into the second phase with a little over half health. You can't use food, and bandages won't heal more than that. You'll also be without cooldowns since you already used them all. This generally results in you getting raped by the breath in three seconds flat. Sadly, as far as the good idea goes, I wasn’t able to truly appreciate the book. Yes, it delivers on humanly darkness. Yes, it has many conflicts that create complex settings for characters to deal with and yes, everything ties in together nicely…

I don’t know how to feel about it. Is Amber going to undo what was done? Maybe I just misunderstood her plan. Would it even work? The story seemed concluded but also not. I enjoyed the story overall. The characters were detailed. It was well researched and the story went along at a good speed. Amber, Tyler, Jordan and Brooke have been suffering with the darkness within in them for the past 2 decades and now must face up to it, reunite, learn some truths and try to stop the thing that’s been haunting them all for years. But what will happen when the truth is revealed? (You’ll have to read to find out!)Nicely paced, with plenty of intrigue and chilling suspense, along with “feel good vibes” of the characters’ friendships as children, and the sadness of this innocence lost. The ending wraps things up satisfyingly, with a slight cliffhanger (hopefully nodding towards a sequel…!) Jacob’s girlfriend, Rosie, is convinced the man she loves is suffering from stress. But when his moods turn on her, she begins to doubt herself – and she can only hide the bruises for so long. The characters are all likeable, with Tyler and Jordan finding a special place in my heart. The sadness and devastation both have experienced is heartbreaking, and there were definitely parts of this book that had me feeling incredibly moved. The Darkness Within Ourselves is the second book I have read by this author and it is just as exciting as the first one. The ending? It certainly kept with the theme/theory the book is based on, but it’s a difficult one to accept. Yes, it’s unbelievable, but it’s also morally unacceptable and after all these crimes and wrong doings, who’s going to pay? One can only hope Lady Karma will take care of this one, y’all!
