We can all use this reminder that we are human and are all subject to emotions and feelings that we’d rather not have. It’s an international day of kindness recognized by countries around the world that encourages everyone to look beyond the boundaries of race, religion, and politics and to appreciate the humanity in all of us. RAK Bulletin Board: Create a bulletin board in your school or workplace and provide plenty of paper in fun shapes or designs on which people can write about the random acts of kindness they have received or benefitted from; At times like this we are learning to adapt to the requirements needed to prevent the spread of coronavirus. As a result we have had to rethink the way we do our hobbies, and pursue our interests. Yet, at the same time, we see extreme acts of kindness, selfless acts of courage and people doing all manner of good in the world. ELIZABETH EDWARDS

DALAI LAMA Tell your students that in the Group Circle, only one person may talk at a time and everyone else must listen quietly and respectfully. Each characteristic here clearly relates to the others. Longsuffering, the previous one explained in this series of articles on the fruit of God's Spirit, is linked with kindness in two other lists (2 Corinthians 6:6; Colossians 3:12). And both are important components of love: "Love suffers long and is kind" (1 Corinthians 13:4).

A systematic review and meta-analysis of the effects of performing acts of kindness on the well-being of the actor. J Exp Soc Psychol. 2018;76:320–9. I shall pass through this world but once. Any good, therefore, that I can do or any kindness I can show to any human being, let me do it now. Let me not defer it or neglect it, for I shall not pass this way again.” —Stephen Grellet International Voluntary Service - Links volunteers with charities and other organisations that could benefit from their time, skills and experience. Maybe, you might also feel a bit sad too. Feeling happy, sad, or another way because someone else does is empathy.”Carry out a random act of kindness, with no expectation of reward, safe in the knowledge that one day someone might do the same for you.” —Princess Diana

You can begin by focusing on the person, and before moving forward, think about what would happen if you framed the conversation with the question, “I just want to make sure I understand you. Can I clarify?” Rarely do people say no to this; It can be easy to show kindness when posting online, but when it comes to reality it's harder to commit to kindness in our real-life words and actions. If you reach your hand out to pet a dog, will he wag his tail or bite you? If he has been repeatedly beaten and abused, he may interpret your gesture as a threat and bite. Starting the day with this activity can get students in the right frame of mind to be more kind and empathetic towards one another, and it can alert you to potential problems with specific students. 2. The Group Circle exercise helps students relate to one another, and it can encourage students to accept and share feelings that may be difficult to talk about. Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around.
