Description

A variation of the Glitter Boy designed for Reconnaissance missions (the armor is painted in camouflage in the field). Typically armed with a rapid-fire laser cannon as its main armament, and a small railgun on the left forearm. Included in the novel are poems written by James through which we find out more about what he is feeling and thinking. Keep a hanky handy when you read Forest of Memories which is written about is Nan. It's worth saying at this point the novel does deal with family bereavement. For me, the novel really captures the dynamics of a classroom well including friendships and some of the things kids find fascinating, like finding out information about their teacher and what really goes on in the staff room! Overheard in the staff room poem is very perceptive and accurate as anyone who works in a school will appreciate. Hand to Hand Combat: Rather than use a weapon, the pilot can engage in mega-damage hand to hand combat. A more heavily armored version of the Mark III, armed with a heavy Particle Beam Cannon and a light laser to defend itself while the cannon recharges. What I love about this, is that it highlights how someone so bright and bubbly can be dragged down due to such an internal struggle when they feel like they have no support. It shows how words can affect others. How someone can bottle up their feelings and seem okay on the outside when on the inside they’re hurting.

James can find relief with his beloved Nan, she’s been having worrying falls, and James can’t tell anyone, or she might be sent to a faraway care home. The secrets are building up, and James is starting to lose his characteristic spark.

Bestselling author Alexandra Christo, author of TikTok sensation To Kill a Kingdom, introduces her new book, The Night Hunt (Hot Key Books), a dark... James is in year six and loves all things Mariah and anything that is as fabulous she is, like dancing and singing. As these are seen as girly things another boy in class starts to bully him telling him he is gay as if it’s a bad thing to be. I loved James, he was so full of fun and kindness that it was hard to see him experience this but it was written so sensitively and beautifully that it was lovely to read even though it broke my heart a few times. Free Quebec, Republicans, Republic of Japan, Freedom Station Tri-Galactic Military Services, various other governments and independents. In this powerful story, we follow James, a warm and sweet kid who's proud of his interests, even if they vary from the toxic masculinity around him. While he faces a cadre of bullies at school, he also has a circle of supportive friends, and a teacher who is both a role model and a support. A "light" combat version of the Glitter Boy designed for special opperations. Armed with missiles, vibroblades, lasers, and a heavy particle cannon

I loved this book! As a teacher there were lots of funny titbits about teaching, like the uncanny ability of deciphering which jumper belongs to which child by its smell! And the glorification of the staff room by children! Cargo: Minimal storage space; a foot compartment and storage for a rifle, handgun, survival knife and first-aid kit. A lovely thought provoking & heartfelt coming of age story about a year 6 boy who adores Mariah Carey, loves making up dance routines with his friends in the playground, goes to choir and is on a journey of self discovery. As much as I wish it was just about that, sadly, he's being bullied. I feel that this should be a must read for anyone in the middle grade, with it being easy to follow, a capturing plot line and loveable characters. It’s definitely something kids can relate to and enjoy. This is an excellent book for showing the impact of under-the-radar bullying and how it can escalate to include lots of class members, while making the target feel helpless, confused and vulnerable. It is also joyful, though. Nan is a supportive presence, as are Harriet and Joel, a new friend. And, despite everything, James treats everyone with kindness. This would begin conversations about empathy, bullying, being yourself and about what being LGBTQ+ means.

Glitter Boy was inspired by three things. The first was my own experiences of homophobic bullying – a lot of the scenes in Glitter Boy were things that happened to me. We had just also adopted a little baby boy and so being a dad and all that entails really influenced my writing and James’s relationship with his own father. Lastly, Glitter Boy was inspired by anger! Anger at how the LGBTQ+ community is being treated, anger that transphobia and homophobia seem to be on the rise, and an anger that our stories don’t often get told and if they do they focus on the ‘coming out’ stage. How did your experiences as a teacher influence the story? A Polari-Prize-winning author presents an unforgettable story about a boy facing up to bullying - and his own truths. Due to an exchange of technologies with Free Quebec, the German company Triax managed to create this sleeker, smaller version of the Glitter Boy. It has the same Boom Gun as the G-10, but also carries additional armaments in the form of a small laser, missiles, and a vibro-blade. Used by both the New German Republic and Free_Quebec. Coffee house Caffè Nero has announced the 16-strong shortlist for the inaugural Nero Book Awards, recognising the outstanding books of the past 12... James has always loved dancing with his best friend Harriet and singing along to Mariah Carey’s songs with his nan. Worryingly, in Year 5, a boy called Paul started hissing at James in the playground. But James is determined to have a great Year 6 with their great new teacher Mr Hamilton.

After writing well received picture books, Glitter Boy, is author Ian Eagleton’s first middle-grade novel. But James’s father seems uncomfortable about the plan, and a lot of other things – like any mention of Mr Hamilton, and James’s dancing, and how James talks about his new friend Joel. Meanwhile, a different boy has been harassing James at school and calling him gay, and it’s getting worse every day. Glitter Boys are more akin to mercenary cyber-knights Like the cyber-knight, most Glitter Boys have seen many atrocities for many reasons Consequently, while some may have their prejudices, most are fairly tolerant of non-humans and open to most other life styles They do not hate or fear psychics, practitioners of magic, D-Bees, or mutoids, and will welcome them as equals Of course, these seasoned veterans are nobody's fool, and look upon all strangers with suspicion until they have proven themselves trustworthy Also like the cyber-knight, Glitter Boys tend to be wandering adventurers always in search of excitement While a few Glitter Boys are frequently found among bands of other warriors, they seldom organize into troops entirely composed of Glitter Boys This may be a conscious tactic, for while the robot armor is incredibly powerful, it is also comparatively slow and earthbound.

The Coalition State of Free Quebec is the only kingdom within the Coalition that manufactures and deploys Glitter Boys, a policy that will be discontinued if Emperor Prosek has anything to say about it (he seeks a consistent and unified force and GBs are not part of his plan). However, for the time being, Free Quebec deploys and maintains several troops of Coalition Glitter Boys and has no plans to eliminate them from their armed forces (and a potential source of conflict between it and the other Coalition States). Free Quebec also maintains a tiny factory that can create as many as a dozen new Glitter Boy suits a month. NOTE: Temporarily reduce P.S., P.P., and Spd attributes by 1D4 until serious measures have been taken to restore strength by long hours of exercise and physical activity; at least four hours a day for 1D4 weeks. Periodic walks, exercise, and activity outside the body armor will prevent loss of muscle tone and strength. A new design created by Free Quebec, the Glitter Girl is a Reconnaissance and Intelligence-oriented suit. As its name suggests, the 2-20 is made exclusively for female pilots. Armed with a heavy assault cannon for sniper work and combat, and missiles. Although the Glitter Boy is generally considered a power armor suit, it is so heavily armored and powerful that it is listed under the robot category. Another robot consideration is its more developed environmental aspects. Power armor or robot, the Glitter Boy armor is a forceOnly, life has a way of surprising you. James worries about Nan, who keeps having falls, and he can’t talk to his dad, who’s silent and sad since Mum left. Then the bullying by Paul starts again, along with the word ‘gay’ as an insult. James doesn’t know if he’s gay, but it seems like everyone thinks it’s an awful thing to be. Mariah’s songs tell James to be true to himself, but it’s really hard when he’s still working out who he is, like any eleven year old. The secrets are building up, and James is starting to lose his characteristic spark. Can he find the strength to let the truth out? The automatic stabilization system is a synchronized system of jet thrusters and retractable reinforcement pylons in the legs that hold the armor steady. The pylons and the jets fly into action the moment the Boom Gun is fired.
