About this deal

DeWalt Dcd778 is a powerful drill with 20V of continuous power. It has a battery life of over 30-50 hours; you’ll be sure to at least make it through the whole job without having to wait for the charge to complete. This makes it a little expensive but perfectly worth the money, in my opinion. I have never owned a torque wrench until recently and never felt as if I needed one. With this new device, I began to give these ‘tweaks’ and found that they worked miracles on the torque wrench. The DeWalt DCD778 is a balanced 20-watt compact drill. This is one of the most powerful drills made by DeWalt. It has numerous features that make it perfect for both medium to large size jobs and the occasional small job.

These factors combine to make for a much smaller amount of power needed than a traditional brushless motor of the same watt size. Due to the DC motor design, the DC can be much more compact than a standard DC motor. This makes it one of the most efficient ways to produce low-power systems in places where space is at a premium. The powerful little LED work light is good for lighting up tight spaces. I personally prefer this type of light. It’s above the trigger rather than on the base of the drill. If you’re poking the drill into a tight space, you can still light it up. It stays on for 20 seconds after you let go of the trigger too, which is a pretty useful feature. In the past, I only had one or two options when it came to torque wrenches, between a universal or multi-torque grip. However, now there are multiple options from which to choose! This is currently the best DeWalt compact combi drill you can buy, and anyone who is looking for a drill this size will struggle to find better, even within other tool brands. Brushless Technology Weighing in at 1.3 kg without the battery, this is a rather heavy beast. It’s certainly not the lightest of the cordless drills that I have tested, but that’s to be expected in a brushed motor drill. It’s fairly long as well, at just under 230 mm in length without anything in the jaws. It won’t get into the tightest spots compared with some of the smaller cordless drills on my list. It’s also 225 mm tall without a battery installed. Nowadays, it is impossible to imagine even a small repair shop or car owner’s storage without a cordless drill. But there are different kinds of these power tools, other than the basic drills and screwdrivers. According to specific criteria and unique features, Dewalt dcd778 can be rightfully considered one of the best cordless compact drills. They are designed for entry-level heavy-duty DIYers who want a drill but don’t want the weight, size, or cost associated with a traditional drill. This compact 20V cordless impact drill has a high torque motor for fast drilling and a wide shaft to drill through virtually any material. This unit is easy to use, with handles that clip into the handlebar and an LED light to warn you when it’s time to replace batteries.

If you were a professional tradesperson, you might want a bigger battery to go with this combi drill. 1.5 Ah batteries are slimline and lightweight, but don’t expect to drill hundreds of holes in a row without stopping for a recharge. It has been in the market for quite some time, but finally, Dewalt is out with a new torque wrench that features what they call 15-Clutch settings. These settings allow you to apply a torque amount that will fit the job without exceeding the torque capacity of your torque wrench. The DeWalt DCD778 features a compact and lightweight design, making it easy to handle and maneuver in tight spaces. It also comes with an ergonomic grip, which enhances comfort and reduces user fatigue during prolonged use. This drill machine is known for its reliability, as it is constructed with high-quality materials that ensure its durability over time. But then that’s not really this drill’s job. Instead it’s great for rapid screwing jobs, where a low torque setting is the best option. For drilling up to 13mm in wood and masonry, you’ll want to select a punchier torque setting, but it copes admirably, especially with good quality bits installed. The solid reliability of this DeWalt combi drill was evident when it came to driving screws. 70 mm long wood screws went in and out without camming or much pressure needed. The 150 mm screw could have kept going through the timber there was that much torque left over! I wasn’t forced to use the drill mode for driving screws, which was a good sign. For DIYers, this is an ideal place to start if you want to look the part. Professional tradespeople might expect more features and higher build quality from a combi drill though. There are a few too many plastic parts, a rattle that got on my nerves, and no place to store batteries any bigger than little 1.5 Ah ones. The only niggle I found were that the LED work light is good but not excellent - there are brighter ones available out there. The dcd778 is a 17w slim, lightweight cordless tool. It has a smaller and lighter battery which also means 15 minutes of charge is enough. A 1 AA battery powers it, so you can use it anywhere. Its compact size makes it great for a perfect travel or camping companion; small, lightweight, and handy.

How I Tested The DeWalt DCD776 Compact Hammer Drill Driver Set

Dewalt has done a fantastic job with DCD778. The stand-out feature is the LED light, making it to be used in low to medium light conditions. The DeWalt DCD709 is designed to be highly compact and lightweight, making it easy to handle and use. It can be used conveniently in confined spaces and carried easily from one place to another. It also has a robust construction and is capable of handling whatever you throw. Moreover, it sits easily in the tool belt and keeps you free and fatigue-free. The build quality is excellent, and it lasts longer on a single charge thanks to DeWalts 18v XR Lithium-Ion Batteries. It has an ergonomic design with a rubber grip to improve user comfort. LED Light System The power that this battery system puts out gives this drill a reasonable level of torque. You get 42 Newton metres (Nm) worth of twisting power, and in hammer mode a solid 25,500 maximum beats per minute (bpm). The drill bit is spun up to 1,500 rpm, which isn’t the fastest but perfectly adequate for most DIY jobs. Even though the weight of the battery is light, I consider Dcd778 to be a little heavyweight, considering it’s a one-hand tool. DeWalt’s trigger mechanism is also extremely well judged, offering a brilliant amount of control over drill speed, which is essential if you don’t want to round screws or worse, punch through to the next room when drilling a hole.
