We updated this article in April 2023 to add more information about each featured product, based on extensive research done by our team. It's a 100 percent mineral formula with a light tint to it. The texture is my favourite part — it's incredibly lightweight and silky, and dries to a soft, blurred finish that's not matte but also not dewy. It just looks like healthy skin. Very little effort is required to blend it in, which makes the application experience all the more enjoyable. And it seems everyone struggles with facial SPF for different reasons. Some find that the ingredients irritate their dry and sensitive skin, while others struggle with the way that the oily formulas sit on their already-oily skin. I’m in the latter category. I like a glow, but I find that so many SPF products make my pores look triple their size, and applying any sort of makeup over the top in an attempt to rectify the situation is out of the question (unless I actually want to chase it around my face all day).
HOWEVER, I don't even know if there's ACTUALLY a tint! Like, yes there's a color when I first apply, but it's like the pigment literally disappears after your rub it into your face. I've even wiped my hands on my dark grey sleep shirt after applying and it didn't leave color on my shirt? Why wouldn't it do that when it's supposed to be a tinted product? Shouldn't it leave color behind if I wiped it off my hands and onto my shirt? How can a product be "invisible" and tinted at the same time?I haven't always been big on sun protection. In fact, I spent my entire teenage years and even a good portion of college rarely wearing anything more than SPF 15 — and that was only if I was going to the beach or purposefully tanning outside. Tinted sunscreens are a form of sun protection that include a blend of pigments in addition to their sun protective ingredients, to add a level of (often sheer, but also buildable) coverage to the skin. I mean, if it was meant to go on tinted and then turn clear to "match" your skintone, I feel like that kinda defeats the purpose of a tinted product. I don't understand how this product can 'effortlessly blend into all skintones' with only one color.
