About this deal

Despite that puzzling quirk, the Aerox 9 Wireless is loaded with customization potential. Every time I load up a game, I find myself playing a little metagame where I spend a few minutes creating the perfect profile. It’s a perfect gaming mouse for control freaks. Our take The Aerox 9 Wireless promises a whopping 180 hours of battery life, but Steelseries never specifies - in any of its press material - just how one is meant to use the mouse to achieve those results. So, for the first few days, I used the mouse with the RGB illumination set to 100% and saw the battery life dwindle at an alarming rate. I shot down from 90% to 75% within a few hours, and required charging around the middle of the second work day. I then dropped the RGB illumination to its lowest setting and saw better results but not to a level where I can confidently say that the mouse would last me for maybe even 80 hours. So, it seems that you will have to turn off the RGB completely to benefit from the extra battery life, which is slightly disappointing as not many would want to compromise on their RGB bling. Competition It's fair to say that the mouse has a steep learning curve. I'm sure that dedicated players will eventually figure out where each button is, and maybe even feel comfortable enough to assign multiple shortcuts to each key. But even after using the Aerox 9 Wireless for a few days, it was harder to play FFXIV with the mouse than without it. Compare and contrast to a mouse like the Razer Naga Pro, which lets you customize the number of buttons on the side panel. SteelSeries Aerox 9 Wireless review: Verdict Like its less specialist brother, the Aerox 5 Wireless, this more MMO-oriented candidate is quite a long mouse, meaning it’s really best to be used with a palm grip, as opposed to a claw or fingertip. I’ve always been more of a palm gripper, personally, and the Aerox 9 Wireless felt rather comfortable to use over days of gaming. MMO and MOBA mice generally don’t need to have such high DPI figures given the extra functionality on offer with their extra buttons, but SteelSeries haven’t skimped on the sensitivity of the Aerox 9 Wireless.

That should do it! Remember, do that while holding down the CPI button. 4. Windows should recognize the device now. Each of the 16 buttons on the Aerox 9 Wireless are customizable, including the left and right tilt of the scroll wheel. These buttons can be set up with macros, or commands from your favorite MOBA game, or even Windows and Mac function keys, and have all of these saved into separate profiles.Quantum 2.0 Wireless transmits data at unreal speeds, giving the flexibility of 2.4 GHz or Bluetooth 5.0, while also allowing for 180 hours of continuous play with fast charging. Inside, there’s one of SteelSeries’ own TrueMove Air sensors, which outputs 18,000 DPI, and makes the SteelSeries Aerox 9 Wireless a nippy mouse. This proved to be the case during testing when I booted up Planetside 2 for the first time in a while, and took full advantage of that sensitivity when trying to murder enemies as best I could. A lot of the hoo-hah surrounding the Aerox 9 Wireless relates to how light it is, for an MMO/MOBA mouse, which goes hand in hand with how comfortable it is. It weighs just 89g, which makes it the lightest mouse of this type I’ve tested. There will, of course, be a learning curve for those coming from more traditional mice. Thankfully, I found the placement of the thumb buttons to be among the easiest to learn across this genre of mice, making it a breeze for someone already used to this format. Even for complete newcomers, it shouldn't take more than a day or two before you're up to speed and enjoying all the Aerox 9 Wireless has to offer. AquaBarrier™ technology is IP54-rated to provide water resistance and protection from dust, dirt, and more.

The Aerox 9 Wireless can be customized using the Steelseries GG companion software. You have the usual features to tinker around with, including setting upto 5 CPI levels, adjust mouse acceleration/deceleration, set the polling rate, and more. The Naga Pro has a better sensor, an extra button, and modular side plates for the same price. However, the Aerox 9 wins by a mile when it comes to weight. How long will it last? Widely compatible Bluetooth 5.0 allows you to connect to a variety of devices, no additional dongle required. Of course, any similarly-equipped MMO/MOBA mouse could do this, but it couldn't do it while only weighing 89g, nor while providing a sensor and switches that I'd feel confident taking into any competitive FPS (the shape and weight of this particular mouse notwithstanding). Make no bones about it, this isn’t the cheapest option in the world, but as the saying goes, you get what you pay for, and the SteelSeries Aerox 9 Wireless seemingly provides everything you could ask for. DesignNext-gen wireless is here. 2.0 Quantum technology transmits data faster than ever before, with industry-leading power efficiency and stability. Honeycomb shell reduces weight by up to 20g while maintaining strength and durability for the most intense gaming sessions. You can configure as many genre- or game-specific mouse profiles as you like and save them on your PC. Noticeably, however, there's no way to save your profiles in onboard memory—the Aerox always remembers your current configuration in case you decide to switch PCs, but won't let you carry a whole suite of them with you. Nor can it store macros or custom RGB lighting setups onboard. Imagine all of the photo, video, or audio editing tasks that could be automated by macros applied to these side buttons and you'll begin to understand what a useful tool this mouse could be for creatives. This is another area where the Aerox 9 is identical to the other entrants in the line. It charges via a front-facing USB-C port. The charging cable is also what you'll use to connect its Mouse Extension Adapter to the PC. The USB-C-equipped dongle is designed to plug into the other end of the coupler.

If you aren't sure how to Bluetooth connect to your PC, we'll show you how to Bluetooth connect your SteelSeries Aerox mouse. How to Bluetooth Connect a SteelSeries Mouse 1. First, you will need access the Bluetooth menu on your PC. Easily remap important keys and auto-launch your custom configs for each game you play. Engine offers an arsenal of different customizations, from RGB lighting to adjusting the mouse sensor CPI, and triggering lighting effects with in-game events from GameSense-enabled titles. The top button on your Aerox is a shortcut for changing the CPI. But! You can also hold it down as the first step to Bluetooth pairing... keep holding it for now. 3. On the underside, slide the notch toward the Bluetooth side (left).Designed with 100% pure PTFE to provide the smoothest swipes and enhanced control for super-fast mouse movements. To be clear, the 180-hour playtime claim SteelSeries mentions in the Aerox 9 Wireless' marketing materials requires use of the mouse's Bluetooth connectivity, not its 2.4GHz dongle. This means you'll be subject to the inherent latency Bluetooth connectivity adds, when compared to more standard 2.4GHz gaming mouse connections. Software is taken care of with SteelSeries clever GG suite, which really comes into its own with a mouse like the Aerox 9 Wireless. All of the mouse buttons (including those contained on the keypad) can be programmed easily, as well as the RGB lighting itself. Gaming mice specifically designed with MMO and MOBA titles in mind have traditionally been heavy behemoths, but it doesn’t always have to be that way.
