About this deal

Per funzionare funziona, si riesce a velocizzare il puntamento di piccoli soggetti in movimento con un teleobiettivo. In Focus priority mode, on the other hand, sometimes the AF won’t lock at all and the camera will fail to take the picture but at least you’ll know something is wrong. If I am going out knowing that I am going to take photos of birds, then I fit and recalibrate my EE-1 the day before. The first few times I couldn’t track anything because as soon as I looked through the viewfinder, I couldn’t find my subject anymore. They mention that it's pretty much essential for birders, excellent for birds in flight and that the instructions are woeful.

I'd agree with the comments above though about proper setting up of the EE-1 before shooting, and whilst a tripod or such support probably isn't essential, it does make the job much easier if you can lock the camera down, focus on something at a suitable distance (using single point AF), then adjust the up/down, left/right positioning of the sight to match without fear of the camera moving. When I first got it out I thought the sight was affected by serious astigmatism, but you'll just need to focus your eyes correctly and it's sharp. It is important that you remain in the same position while performing the whole operation so that your view of the LCD screen and Red Dot Sight doesn’t change much. But as this photography lark is just a hobby for me and bird photography forms quite a small part of that, I'm probably not as seasoned as most and so need all the help I can get. It greatly facilitates locating the target with a long telephoto lens, and in combination with subject recognition of the OM-1, the dot placement can be off a little and the camera will still pick up the target. The more distinct your point of reference is (for example a tree or a farm), the easier it becomes to configure the EE-1. I had done a lot of measuring and placed masking tape on the lens body with lines to indicate the straightest position. It does work quite well although it's a little counter intuitive at first, you just have to remember it's actually on the camera in the initial excitement of that rare BIF just entering your field of vision!with the EE-1 dot sight, I could follow up the devil bird 90% of the time and the camera was able to finally lock in time and take the shot. This is also important because you can observe how the birds behave in the air, how they change direction and where they go. That’s why we’ll make it in our best interest to offer you the very best option should you find them cheaper. If there is a hidden switch, it does not engage until the casing is completely closed and the LED is invisible. If you look on the internet you can find similar products made by third party manufacturers (some also less expensive) but I have no experience with them.

I calibrated the lens and then painted a mark on the casing and a mark on the wheel at the calibrated point with 2x MC (both horiz and vertical wheels). It folds down to about twice the size of the mini electronic flash included with all high-end Olympus cameras, and uses a cheap CR2032 battery that lasts quite a long time. The Dot Sight offers a centre aiming dot with adjustable brightness and position to allow fast subject acquisition and tracking. You also acknowledge that this forum may be hosted outside your country and you consent to the collection, storage, and processing of your data in the country where this forum is hosted. Actually, you can get them for slightly over 10€, but I paid 20€ to get one that included a hotshoe to picatinny rail adapter so I can actually mount it on my camera.

I just set my cameras to only take a photograph when focus is achieved and didn't need to use the camera's view finder or LCD at all for great photographs. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. I guess the best way to describe in one sentence the practical use of the dot sight with a Telephoto is the following comparison with a giant Telescope in observatories: it is impossible to locate the star you are looking for in the sky through the giant telescope directly: so they are all equipped with a smaller aiming scope giving you a target on a larger angle of view.a slight move of the dot sight in the flash shoe will cause misalignment and you will not have the bird in the middle of your photo as it should be. RF style bodies eliminate much of this parallax issues - especially if the mount is made as flush with the top plate of the camera as possible. you must keep the Dot sight (reticle centered in relation to the screen) in the same position (height and distance from eye) when tracking a subject.
