About this deal

A 90-minute film, consists of two halves to replace the final two TV episodes, it has lost none of it's power to shock audiences as it had done twenty-five years ago. Of course that was almost certainly a byproduct of King Records simply concatenating the video masters used for the " Genesis 0:13" and " Genesis 0:14" VHS/LD releases when authoring the DVD, but it would've been nice if they would've put more than the bare minimum of work required to improve the viewing experience instead of leaving the terribly awkward on-disc sequence of TV Ep. The initial plot is a fairly simple science fiction story set in a post-apocalyptic world where teenagers pilot giant robots known as “Evangelion” into battle with “Angels,” who are some kind of extra-terrestrial beings hellbent on destroying humanity. While the ending song is absent on this release, all the other bonus features as well as the improved visual and audio quality more than make up for it.

On October 4, 1995, a little known anime name Neon Genesis Evangelion hit the airwaves on TV Tokyo in Japan. I believe that it's the second half of the show that evolves EVANGELION from being a great show to truly something incredible. Presented on Blu-ray for the first time in the UK, this groundbreaking, action-packed series from creator Hideaki ANNO has been hailed as one of the most important anime series of all time – a remarkable fusion of genres, and a powerful examination of the relationship between man and machine. Evangelion veteran Tiffany Grant once said “There’s a lot of different interpretations, and they’re all true! The international re-release of NEON GENESIS EVANGELION does not contain "FLY ME TO THE MOON" in any of its home video editions.NEON GENESIS EVANGELION is not a perfect anime, and it won't be for everyone, but the fact that it's creator had set out to make 'something, anything' and has left such an influential impact on not just Japan but the world is an incredible achievement.

The Neon Genesis Evangelion Collector's Edition is a deluxe 11-disc set presented in a rigid case, containing a 40-page book, 8 art cards, the Official Dub and Subtitled versions, and the bonus Classic Dub and Subtitled versions. The ultimate edition Blu-ray release for Neon Genesis Evangelion comes with 11 Blu-ray discs, authored and encoded by MediaOCD, and there’s a reason why there’s a lot of discs involved. In the long run, it’s best not to overthink Evangelion, because part of its power comes from the inscrutable mystery. Both editions feature the full TV series as well as the two movies Death (True)² and The End of Evangelion.

Trying to sort through the meaning of all that is endlessly compelling, though it’s worth pointing out that none of it was intended to have a definitive interpretation. The PA announcements throughout the show are often heard coming from one surround speaker or the other, and there are panning effects whenever vehicles, Evas, or Angels move around the viewer. Furthermore, the only people capable of piloting these giant mecha were school children, which fed into the whole high school drama aspect that tended to be common among the mecha anime shows at the time. It’s essentially a revised version of episodes 25 and 26 from the television series, providing an alternate finale—though perhaps it might be more accurate to refer to it as an alternate view of what happened.

I’m also coming from a position of someone who has owned Evangelion several times over–the original Perfect Collection DVD’s, the Platinum Edition DVD’s, the Funimation Movie releases, and the Manga Entertainment releases of the two movies. Fly Me to the Moon" might still play but it plays very quietly and with the exception for Episode 2 it's almost completely gone.If I were Studio Khara, I would replace all the end themes with Rei I, but I would only keep Fly Me to the moon for Episodes 15, 21 and Death. I’m happy that I went on the journey, and it’s a wild ride—that’s for sure—but the acclaim for something with such inept storytelling is baffling to me. I own the original ADV dub on dvd and even that has many awkward additions to the voice-over that I don't like.
