This also means that a preference for improved dynamic slam and impact doesn't necessarily incur the detail and resolution trade-offs that would otherwise accompany the use of a single dynamic driver to handle the entire frequency range. The Moondrop Starfield is a single Dynamic Driver design with a 10mm diameter Carbon Nanotube (CNT) diaphragm.

The Moondrop Starfield is a universal monitor that uses a carbon nanotube diaphragm 10mm dual cavity dynamic driver. There’s something highly alluring about the way the Starfield shifts its perceived weaknesses into strengths, the way it straddles that line so neatly for my preferences, and it’s something I can’t get enough of each time I listen to it. My Starfield are a good bit bassier below 100 Hz but have a greater focus on the true low sub-bass as this is where their peak frequency lies whereas they are quite comparable above that.I previewed the Starfields for a few hours at home after receiving them, and I quickly fell in love with them for the generally neutral and laid back sound. I would also toss the Linsoul Shuoer Tape Electrostatic IEM into this list, but I’ve not heard it yet.

Yes, the box is only cardboard, but in all honesty, I have a weakness for Asian lettering such as this. Sound stage isn't bad, it just lacks width but there's enough depth and height, maybe the sluggish bass and the mediocre sparkle on the treble is the reason behind this.Additionally, the Starfield has much better slam and dynamic impact in the bass, as well a better sense of speed and control - especially for the lower midrange. The Starfield's diaphragm is a composite of carbon nanotube array warp and weft knitted in a polymer film, making this only 6 microns (0. The Starfield's cable is tangle-free and easy to use, with the earpieces using the 2-pin connector style. They have a dip around 3 KHz in their tuning to avoid any type of sibilance or sharpness which is why these sound so smooth.

From the unique design to the very delicate and natural sound, it’s a listening experience, I simply can’t recommend enough. The treble is very smooth but will likely be too recessed for those who listen to treble-heavy music or who prefer to have more sparkle in their treble. This results in a generally very pleasant tuning that can be considered generally flat/neutral in the midrange and treble, with an extra dose of warmth in the fundamental range without colouring the lower mids by too much (although there is undeniably more lower midrange warmth compared to Etymotic’s XR dynamic driver equivalent, so it is ultimately a coloured lower midrange response), followed by a bass lift that extends in a very nice slope that peaks in the true very low sub-bass wherefore the Starfield have got a very prominent subwoofer-like character if the recording really reaches as low as the true low sub-bass (that boost is around 14 dB above flat neutral in the lowest sub-bass, and around 7. My suspicion is that this will likely depend on how well they're taken care of, so it might be a good idea to put a foam divider into the small round case that it comes with to prevent the two earpieces from touching. This is compounded by the plethora of ear tip sizes, materials, and shapes (which may or may not be included with the IEM) all of which uniquely fit different people. Speaking of which, the bass on the Starfield is about equal parts sub-bass and mid-bass - considerably above neutral - and honestly, it’s not very good.

Their enthusiasm appears infectious, as although this is my first ‘ears-on’ experience with one of MoonDrop’s products, I’ve only encountered positive word of mouth.I bought a cable as well, but I got conned by how pretty Autumn Moon looks , so spent more than I needed to haha, it looks good excited to have it.
