About this deal

Eastgate is the fourth explosive novel in the Robert Hoon Thrillers series by bestselling author, JD Kirk, and is perfect for fans of Lee Child, Robert Ludlum, and angry, middle-aged Scottish men doing implausible things. Like most kids’ authors, most of my income came from doing school events, and I got asked to go to a school in Elgin and talk about how kids can publish their own books.

I tried to push the idea from my mind, but Hoon—because this is what he does—soon forced his way back in. Bob and Berta, the dream team, against an army of killer Santas, what more could anyone want in a book? The whole series ran out of steam in book 3 and this book, the fourth in the series is weak both in content and plot.Lesson learned … “reviews are good, but take time before falling for something based on the reviews”. I say every time this was the best but this has to be the number 1 ,I will not walk through east gate the same again without thinking of hoon and bertas traumatic event he really is a lovable but rather annoying individual . Again this was led by people just asking for merchandise, so I thought since I’ve been so well supported in the area, we could use this as a way of giving a bit back into the local area. It’s another blast of a story – a totally unbelievable but absolutely entertaining episode which appears to be the last. It was almost like a Christmas Special this one, because the cast of the Logan series are in it, it rounds off the Hoon series, it’s kind of a big explosive action-packed ending with all the characters the readers have come to love over the course of the series, with a bit of social commentary on male entitlement in there too through the villains.

I put on some quizzes, I’d recorded videos with a wee Santa hat, and loads of them got together on the Facebook group to chat and spend Christmas together. As funny and suspenseful as usual, it made me laugh uproariously, while cringing at what was going on. Hoon is once more going to have to take on the bad guys alone, armed only with his wits, his fists, and his unique line in insults. This is a bit of a Christmas crossover special, so if you are a fan of the DCI Logan series then some of your faves will make an appearance here too. You may not know this about me… BUT I love Die Hard and I DO think its a Christmas movie… fight me if you don’t (just kidding 🤣) but seriously it is my go to Christmas movie… what can I say Bruce Willis Yippy Kai Ayying all over the place blowing sh*t up just screams Christmas to me… my point….

I have said before; Hoon is over the top, foul mothed, and eager to use violence as a blunt instrument to find out what he needs to know. Meanwhile there is a takeover and he realises this when he comes out and being Hoon gets involved up to his armpits. Luckily we were in a position where it wasn’t just me doing everything, we had cover designers, editors, working with us freelance.
