Laughter has been central to the cultural politics of movements including Dada, Surrealism and Situationism, and the practices of so many artists who defy categorization. Like the musings of a very wise child displaying the wit and humor of a seasoned observer of the adult world, his illustrations feature crossed-out words, scribbled, uneven lines, and darkly funny aphorisms about the world. David Shrigley (1968) is best known for his distinctive drawing style and works that make satirical comments on everyday situations and human interactions. His playful drawings, paintings, photographs and sculptures are imbued with a deadpan humour that encapsulates the bizarre nuances of modern life. Today, David Shrigley’s art is recognisable for his satirical drawings, which explore the mundane through a childlike wonder and incisive sense of humour. And to top it off, something that goes towards our community - 25% of profits go to the Fitzherbert Community Hub , a charity close to David’s heart and ours.
