The ‘money personas’ that the book is based around are humorous but the lack of detail going into how to maximise your investments/manage your money under these personas is minimum which was quite surprising given that the entire book referenced this opening section throughout. First half of the book was difficult read for me as a I had to face my financial fears and work through it along the book but also was so liberating. Welcome to My Life in Money, our series from Good Housekeeping where we ask our favourite financial gurus for their thoughts on everything from investing to their favourite money apps.

It has range of tips from easy to some more on harder side and lot of good tips when it comes to taxes (with the cost of living crisis this is much needed in UK right now). She combines knowledge, enthusiasm, and humour to create a natural affinity with the audience and put panel members at ease. Given the cost-of-living crisis, now is the time to tackle the gaps in our knowledge, beat the overdraft and finally get to grips with our finances. What They Don’t Teach You About Money” is an indispensable guide that unveils the secrets behind efficient financial habits. She presents the FT Money Clinic podcast, and covered business and finance news on Eddie Mair’s LBC drivetime show, making complex market issues relevant and accessible. Clare Barrett takes out much of the mysticism and jargon surrounding money and provides useful guidance wherever you are in your career and at whatever level.

I would recommend people this book if you are stuck on your finances or want to know more on the subject. For me, who has already dealt a little with finance and investment, there were no big surprises or groundbreaking tips. From revealing what 'credit' really means (spoiler alert, it's not as positive as they'd like you to think) to the lie that you can easily make money off crypto, she'll debunk the pervasive money myths perpetuated by those who profit the most from our ignorance. Claer explains the emotions behind money and why finances are such a challenging topic to talk about. And I guess one of the hardest things to do is indeed to talk about money--with anyone, but especially to the people you care about or the people who care about you.Understandably so, as we make up a much smaller percentage of the work force, but as I’ve said in the beginning: I guess this just wasn’t made for me. finansal özgürlüğünün olması için çalışırken biriktirmesi gerektiğini, ihtiyacı olmayan şeyleri almamasını, mecbur kalmadıkça harcamamasını ve en önemlisi de mutlaka yatırım yapmasını anlatan bölümlerle dolu.

As a former retail correspondent, Claer also looks into how consumerism has changed, the future of the high street, and the digitalisation of real estate and the financial services sector. The FT’s money-making expert Claer Barrett responds to real-life money questions from a range of millennial guests gearing up to battle the cost of living crisis.

Highly recommend for those in the early stages of wanting to learn about how money works and how to make good decisions for themselves. I'm a fairly financially literate person - an avid user of YNAB, your average mix of Spendy Wendy and Spreadsheet Slave -- and walked in not really expecting to gain all that much out of this book, but was pleasantly surprised how much I had to learn about longer-term saving avenues and all the common sense that comes with managing money. We are experiencing delays with deliveries to many countries, but in most cases local services have now resumed. This highly practical session featuring two FT columnists explores habit-changing tips in Barrett’s book, What they don’t Teach you about Money. British people can find it very awkward to talk about money, which is why there's a whole chapter of my book dedicated to changing this. Being something that I am interested in doing within the next five years it was good to see what to do and what not to do when purchasing a first home on the market.
