About this deal

Depends on how much stop and go driving you do and how much heat it's exposed to while under the hood. A poorly maintained engine can actually overload and damage a car battery, reducing its overall lifespan.

Car batteries have no heat source, so an insulating blanket is only going to slow heat loss, a car battery sitting overnight will still reach ambient air temperature. This Cell Saver by DEI is very capable of damping vibration and will absorb and neutralize any damaging leaky battery acids. Though I used it successfully for the diesel engine cover so far, I know the petrol engines heat more than diesels, hence my question. Taking measures to insulate your battery will prolong the life of the battery which inevitably is a money-saving activity.I ended up taking the battery out and letting it sit in a bathtub with warm water for a few hours (made my fiancee wonder what kind of guy she was about to marry). I previously used the material in below link for reconditioning an engine cover for a VAG diesel engine (tested successfully even for 8 hour long trips). These kits usually have a plastic pad to go under the battery and adhesive material that applies directly to the battery. As far as I know it's reguarly done in a lot of cars, but I couldn't find anything on Google about how it was done, or any accounts of people doing it themselves. You can purchase a new one direct from the auto manufacturer or find used ones which are just as functional at salvage yards.

The chemical reactions happening in the battery do produce some heat, whether it's enough to be worth considering I don't know. If it is really cold and the truck or car will sit for more than a couple of days, I will put a battery charger on the battery (My CTEK smart charger has a cold weather function that I use for precisely this purpose.Well we’ve had some frigid weather here in the NE (14 degrees as I type) and I noticed my car’s batteries don’t have any insulation material or container… I was wondering if I could DIY it with some 1" fiberglass insulation, the kind for heating ducts with mylar on the outside to reflect heat in summer. This insulation also protects the individual components within the battery pack from damage caused by rough movement, A.

Protecting EV battery components helps to prevent critical damage, like thermal runaways, and to meet the UL 9540 standard. I can tell that the car starts more easily, so I'm very happy with the product and can recommend it to others. As I am in an area with moderately cold winters I am sure this will assist a bit in that regard as well even though the wrap is only about 1/8” - 3/16” thick. Also, the jacket is made of sturdy material so its clearly going to outlive the car so I will probably use it on any replacement car I get in the future. Auto parts retailers market kits that apply directly to the battery to prolong the life of the battery.
