About this deal

In his new book Bush Runner, Ottawa author Mark Bourrie portrays the European arrival much differently through an unvarnished account of the life of Pierre Radisson. This experience and exposure to Indigenous culture shaped the skill set and peculiar personality of a man who, in turn, helped shape Canada. In Bush Runner, a biography of Radisson (1636-1710), author Mark Bourrie continues the depiction, showing people making soup from the vines that grew on trees and, having long since eaten their dogs, boiling the bones that the crows had picked clean. While much beyond what Radisson wrote himself has not survived, this book does help provide a picture of colonial North America outside of the 13 colonies and tells how the French were in a precarious position.

Therefore, on most planets which have Bush Runners, the animals are allowed to range free and are hunted for the 2 to 5 grams of Suffitoleum than that can be recovered from each adult.

Bourrie is the author of several books including Kill the Messengers: Stephen Harper’s Assault on Your Right to Know, and currently teaches history at Carleton University and Canadian studies at University of Ottawa. His essay “Harnessing Journalists to the War Machine” was published in 2012 in Canada and the Second World War.

After being recaptured, he defected from a raiding party to the Dutch and crossed the Atlantic to Holland — thus beginning a lifetime of seized opportunities and frustrated ambitions. Radisson made his way to Manhattan and talked his way onto a ship bound for Holland, where he scrounged passage back to New France.
