Setting aside a little time weekly to use my hands to create something that will bring a smile to people’s faces and joy to their bellies is an act I don’t take for granted.

Lots of yummy goodies in here, but I think I prefer Ebuehi's first book as the variety in cakes were more up my street. Because when you do that, you just get so disheartened if it doesn't work, if it doesn't look the way it does in the picture or it's just not Instagram perfect.When I bought a copy of her first book, The New Way to Cake, I found that, "[w]hile being exceptionally flavourful, these bakes feel steadfast and comforting. Abuehi is supremely creative and eye-widening recipes include the goose fat potato focaccia, lemon and chamomile buns, sticky toffee treacle tart, and more.

It's homely, comforting, something your mom would make or your grandma would make, and it just warms your belly and makes you smile. And I had some leftover meringue from something else and I ate it together and it was just wonderful. A wonderful read - but I’m not a baker and will attempt just a few of the recipes (I’m looking at you “sweet toast brownies” and “buckwheat, sesame and chocolate cookies”). I first started baking Benjamina's recipes from her columns in the Gaurdian Feast supplement and subsequently bought and baked from her first, slim tome 'The New Way to Cake'. It’s filled with 70 sweet and savoury recipes that celebrate the joy and therapeutic nature of baking.So once you've got the base down, you know how to [inaudible 00:12:27] meringue, it's really fun to switch up. Benjamina Ebuehi : Honestly, I feel like everyone should because yeah, the Instagram community is absolutely wonderful. I know for some people, it can be really up and down, but personally it's just been such a great experience on there.
