I know Rachel Reid and Taylor Fitzpatrick (who wrote one of my all-time favorite hockey love stories—although I don’t think it qualifies as a true “romance”—THROWN OFF THE ICE) are Canadian. Unravel Me contains emotional references to the past death of parents and its surrounding grief, as well as brief discussions of foster care, depictions of child neglect, and the death of an animal (minimal descriptions and as it pertains to the FMC’s training as a veterinarian student; not main character’s pet). He’s so afraid that he’s no longer communicating, and that’s a version of him I’ve only seen once before. Recently divorced from her “roommate” with passionless benefits, she was ready to start over on her own. The runtime is also prohibitive, because 20 hours means you’ll be listening for AT LEAST two days, probably more.

The female narrator gives a solid performance, but it’s the male narrator who really takes things up a notch.
