The finest grapes are hand-picked, pressed, and the resulting wine is then aged in our specially coopered oak vats for five years. The blend is made with four-fifths being from young youthful wines with the remainder from more mature wines which give the port roundness and a seductive, velvety feel.Cockburn’s Special Reserve port is created from a variety of high quality grapes, which are all hand picked by Cockburn’s master pickers.

Youthful tannins lend it a slight peppery spice but it’s the extra time spent in oak barrels that gives it its balance and signature velvety smoothness. In 1962, the family sold the company to Harvey's of Bristol, [2] which itself then became part of Allied Domecq until 2005, when Allied Domecq was taken over by Pernod Ricard, which sold Cockburn's and some other brands to the Fortune Brands holding company (the parent company of Beam Global).
