About this deal

When you are shooting portrait work, you will notice this the most by putting harsh lights near the subject.

I think that’s generally good advice, as in most circumstances subtleness will get you the best results.

I like how my photos turned out dreamy and always go for the glow when using the backlight technique. Share with me your Fuji X Weekly moment, and be entered to win a CineBloom diffusion filter (details below)! They help to remove some of the digital crispness to create a film-like appearance, which is the look I’m going for. While I much prefer the Black Satin filters over any of the popular three that people are raving about right now, I don't think it is some slight on lens optics to want them.

The Fujifilm XF 23mm F2 R WR delivers a 35mm full-frame equivalent field of view and stands out due to its small size and weather-resistant build. The effect is ever so subtle but the more the light changes in a scene the more apparent the difference becomes using the filter and I find the effect quite pleasing. Since I have done a fair amount of film photography lately it is becoming more and more apparent how my digital photos look in comparison.I didn’t walk all that far with my camera—going down a few blocks on one side of the road, and then back up on the other side. The fact that I used a smartphone makes it neutral and color science or resolution isn’t of importance, it’s the effect the filter offers that this review is going to focus on, even with the computational photography the phone has. So, in a way, your recipes have provided me with the freedom to focus on what’s important, and that’s the photograph itself and what it means for my loved ones. I have been able to capture some beautiful memories for me and my family using the recipes found on Fuji X Weekly, coming to a point where I no longer have the need to edit anything, I can print the photographs directly from the camera and I know they come out fantastic.

You can also use them in other ways according to your preferences – as creativity is the only limit here. And it’s not like we try to create what we had in the past, it’s just how we see the world and would like to portray it. Tiffen also offers white halation filters, such as the regular Pro-Mist filters or the Glimmerglass, that provide a similar look, but Moment filters are just as durable and currently less expensive. It’s thin enough that you can stack the CineBloom under another filter without compromising the field of view. I still think they add something by smoothing the highlights from the building, and raising the dark shadows. Soften wrinkles, blemishes, and pores while maintaining skin tone values, making wrinkles less noticeable.
