The author created the thrill and even produced photographs to build the feeling of authenticity that made the story so believable I had to keep reminding myself I was reading a fictional novel. I loved the uniqueness of this book and the idea of bringing together fiction and non-fiction into the same book.

it's framed as a new edition of a book previously published by chizmar in 1990, about the murders of four teenage girls from june-october 1988 in his hometown of edgewater, maryland.It really felt like a true crime novel with its pictures and interviews intervened with really life facts from the author himself. I really liked to read true crime in my younger years, but as time went on I felt more and more guilty of having a few hours of "entertainment" at the cost of other people's misery, up to the point that I just quit the whole genre.

The character of the boogeyman was portrayed similarly to the Shape, Michael Myers, in that it didn't talk or make any noises where a normal human would react to pain being inflicted with pain. There are also pictures of the victims, locations throughout the town, and the police investigation added throughout the book which give it an even more realistic feel.My first impression when I started reading was the insanity that the author was actually involved in a true crime case.
