In practice, the effects differed according to whether percussive or melodic parts were getting the treatment. Arturia remotely provide firmware updates which allow them to totally change the potential of the machine but they haven't released one in a while. Their guides and videos are terrible, do not expect to find answers to your pondering from their own material.

If you prefer, you can opt for MIDI–based transposition instead, from a keyboard set to the ‘transpose channel’. Ive never found a case where I DIDNT need it to control my modular, I dont know why they didnt just make a power supply for it in the first place. The system also lets you choose from a range of scales or, via the accompanying software editor, define your own, consisting of as many or as few notes as you like. The only way I could sequence them with the BeatStep would be setting up the M:C to channel 1 to 6, the M:S to channel 7 to 13. Well to be honest either I am thick as shit and cant figure this out or it isn’t possible for the most part. As a MIDI controller it has enough customizable knobs, pads, and transport controls to drive your music where you want it to go. A controller mode lets you trigger clips in your favourite DAW or play a drum module or adjust parameters. The iPad just doesn't supply enough current to power the BeatStep Pro, and incorporating an Apple Lightning port would have added too much development time and extra cost, so Arturia made the decision to focus on computer and hardware synth users.

While the front panel covers all of the essential parameters, including dedicated knobs for tempo and swing, some configuration options? As well as switching patterns, you can just as easily switch to a new project, all without stopping the music. If there are Beatstep Pro users here, could you please tell me a bit more about your personal experiences with the sequencer? Still figuring out a custom, DIY sound module box which I'll develop on Linux or Raspberry Pi, for use of plugins and digital instruments without a computer. These can be shifted through your mixer channels in groups of eight, via the left and right buttons on the front panel. It is very versatile and deep and I still need to do some more reading and experimenting with it to get the best out of it! I’m using my BeatStep Pro through USB with a Win7 laptop running Live 9, which is sending MIDI out to a Korg M3 and Boomstar.
