They have been designed to immerse you in the story of your operatives as they fight across the Octarius killzone, with a particular mind to rewarding players who use them as part of a Spec Ops Campaigns.

In the rare instance that bases prevent an intended target from being Visible to the active operative, such as when the active operative is directly below or above the intended target, treat those bases as being invisible.Evasion: If the Defender is currently undertaking the Extraction or Breakout Spec Op, then at the end of the battle, if at least half of their operatives escaped the ambush, reduce by 1 the number of games required to complete that Spec Op’s Operation 1. While it might appear ramshackle, it is in fact a defendable position that allows operatives to use cover and safely advance on their enemy.

There is almost no rhyme or reason to their placement and one can expect to spend a good deal of time hunting down each part. A player controls the target zone if the combined APL of all friendly operatives within the target zone is greater than the combined APL of all enemy operatives within the target zone. In addition to being solid ranged options, you play them in lieu of an activation, letting you delay a key model’s attacks until you’re ready for them. Your options here are simple, but useful: Either add 1” to your team’s Movement characteristics, or re-roll results of 1s in either shooting attacks, melee attacks, or defense rolls. Finally we get Spec Ops which is the Narrative Play module for Kill Team and where I feel the game is at it’s strongest.

I decided it was time to assemble the miniatures from Kill Team: Octarius and try out the new Battlefoam Octarius box inserts. If you need some additional mobility in your kill team, feel free to give one of your models a Climbing Rope .
