About this deal

He loves gaming, but don't expect him to play with you unless your console is hooked up to a 4K HDR screen and a 7. It does everything I want it to, from copying old cassettes in digital form and does a fairly good job. auxiliary jacks seem to have been the norm on most mid to high-end models back when this style of portable music players was mainstream according to what I read online Its brand is GPO and the model GPO Brooklyn according to the label on the back of the unit. Products labelled '*item fulfilled by Exertis on behalf of hmv' will be supplied to you directly by Exertis via their approved couriers. I would change the tweeter look if i could and change some of the flimsier buttons but thats mainly it.

Featuring 40 watt speakers, Bluetooth connectivity and a top-loading CD player, as well as DAB and DAB+ radio, it also has a cassette player if you really want to throw it back. The rear has a nice "GPO" crest to the centre which is a lovely touch and must of added a fortune to pressing but was worth it as it looks good. Before turning on your Brooklyn Boombox for the first time, please ensure that the device is fully charged. The GPO Brooklyn Boombox Stereo is a fully portable multi-use boombox stereo that will take you back to those retro '80s days without a doubt. It certainly has lots of audio input choices, including a cassette deck, a top-mounted CD slot, DAB and FM tuners (complete with dual antennas and a real tuner needle), a USB player, Aux input jacks, microphone inputs, and Bluetooth. A timed run against an mp3 of one of my favorite tracks was correct to the second so its seems consistent. Charmingly bulky, there was no block party worth having in the 1980s and early 90s if there wasn’t a boombox present. The GPO Brooklyn is a fully portable music system, styled on the iconic 80's Boom Box with all the technology of the 21st century, so revive your cassettes and step back in time. It’s perfectly fine for a party in the park, but think at least about whether you’d truly want this as your primary listening device.

Allowing a single chip to perform multiple tasks as opposed to electronics of yester year were a there many separate boards with larger components soldered to the circuit board. I'm glad to see they kept an analogue tuner scale for the FM radio, this not only keeps the look right but gives great flexibility as not everyone is enamored with dab and its associated low bit rates, it sounds good but i personally think fm sounds better with more detail. With a look straight out of the ’80s plus a dash of modern technology, the GPO Brooklyn manages to step both directions in time.On YouTuber even demonstrated that by tapping the unit while it was off and having the output meter button switched to the on position would cause them to light up.

The function switch is nice, this actually feels quite solid and as you change function in the switch the changes and selected format are shown on the display to the left of the tuner. Then again his unit does have a center mounted subwoofer and two nicely sized woofer speakers with separate tweeters. underneath the main board is the board that houses the output level meters, CD/USB player controls and the tape counter. Easy stuff to fix in the MK II version: I’d give up the CD player if they churned the savings into a bigger amp, battery pack and a cabinet tuned to 40 htz.

Perhaps some old school fake screw detailing on the rings would add a touch of the 70’s/80’s to it for sure. I didn't think the mech looked very high quality but it has to be said that on my nice new tape it sounded very stable. I was surprised as i expected there to be deviations in sound across all formats buts its very even. CD and USB playback can be controlled from the main panel above the cassette slot, and tape playback from the tape control panel below the tape slot. They’ve saved money on battery capacity and the associated charging gear but these are performance limiting factors. The control can be used to change the balance between the left and right speakers, with the change displayed on the LED display. My unit lacks the menu and info buttons since the DAB/DAB+ option is not available in the US models. Also some of the boom boxes from the 70s and 80’s era had metal support brackets that held these boards in place. The GPO Brooklyn Boombox features an integrated rechargeable battery, which allows the unit to be used anywhere, providing you with music on the go.
