About this deal

When she meets William at Howard University, with his inky black eyes and broad shoulders, it’s love at first sight. This is an extremely interesting book on human evolution, looking at various traits of modern humans and exploring how they -and we- came to be. Very detailed and interesting book looking at female body evolution has effected human evolution and has opened my eyes on certain subjects, the author tries to make the book simple in parts so the reader doesn't need a biological or medical knowledge to fully understand. Marshaling considerable wit, scholarship, and cutting edge science Cat Bohannon traces the history and importance of female biology and, in the process, gives us a refreshing new view on the origin of humanity. Existing as a woman in our increasingly atomized world can be isolating in ways that are hard to even identify.

TheDeorhord by Hana Videen is a fascinating collection of medieval creatures large and small, and a delightful dive into Old English. Then, one carnival night, two women, bleeding and stricken, are abandoned outside the convent's walls. There’s also a grungy lushness to her prose that celebrates saliva, cervical and laryngeal mucus, buttocks, the “metal tang of old menstrual blood”, and fat. In Eve, author Cat Bohannon tells the story of humanity and how the female body drove evolution (the one with the XY chromosome, though not all women are born with it - gender is part of the brain make-up and doesn't correspond to the same sexual organs in everyone.

Picking up where Sapiens left off, Eve will completely change what you think you know about evolution and why Homo sapiens has become such a successful and dominant species. So, ultimately, this isn’t simply an objective overview of the science behind “how the female body drove evolution”. the “stubborn” padding that a woman might turn to liposuction to remove — writing that it is composed of unique and essential lipids (accumulated since childhood) that are vital during pregnancy and breastfeeding to build a baby’s brain and eyes. It's much harder to find someone who remembers a difficult thing that happened forty years ago, or how, precisely, the community managed to find a workaround. But wolves are pretty fantastic hunters, do it in groups, come up with surprisingly complex plans for the hunt that depend on members performing diverse roles, and don’t have a lick of language…So the male narrative of the evolution of human language misses the point. Somerset Life A fascinating read for any fans of historical fiction, magical realism, intrigue and mystery, dealing with themes of female power, patriarchal religion and the power of books. Eve is not only a sweeping revision of human history, it’s an urgent and necessary corrective for a world that has focused primarily on the male body for far too long. Her writing ripples with references from literature, film studies, biochemistry, cognitive science and anthropology.

Some chapters are not for the young or tender, but all regard physiology as part of an evolving life and situation, in which the female of the species did her best to produce healthy offspring and train them for life. It made sense to me: the drainage of sinuses down the throat, resulting in more vocal sac infections, could be selected against.Compulsory abortion of 'excess' pregnancies and mandatory contraceptive implants are now the norm, and families must adhere to strict consumption quotas as the world descends into chaos. You can’t tell me that Ruby and Eleanor aren’t real people because they’re real in my heart, and I will never forget them.

From the author of the 25-million copy bestseller The Shack comes a captivating new novel destined to be one of the most important and talked-about books of the decade. Frankly, I’m writing this while I’m still on page 387, where Cat Bohannon talks about why sex feels good. Bohannon seemingly understands that to really get her points across she needs to find a way to immerse us in this information without leaving us gasping for our literary breaths. It's an education hidden in a tense, compelling, anger-driven narrative, Beatrice and Diana both knock-out characters. Female bodies are not just male bodies with breasts and wide hips; there are fundamental differences. Her work over the last six years has focused on law and policy governing sexual and reproductive health, rights, and technologies. This emboldens her to confront uncomfortable stereotypes, like whether women’s brains have evolved to be inferior to men’s (in fact, the sexes have strikingly similar cerebral equipment). Eve is an endless source of dinner-party trivia, much of it inappropriate for actual dinner parties .
