Maybe because I was used to Lolita Lempicka, which is a way more sophisticated take on a licorice fragrance. Maybe that's one of the "animalic" notes people describe in perfumery that's probably ambergris related or a pheromone. Thankfully the sweetness of the dark and spicy anise scent that’s almost a touch tobacco-like, overpowers the jasmine and patchouli, so it ends up smelling like LL without the violet and cherry, but with a dash of black coffee instead.In my opinion the original Loverdose is better than its flankers Red Kiss and Tattoo, it's the smoothest scent out of these.
