Often I wonder when it was that our schools forgot the true meaning of 'study', something which is now so often misunderstood by teachers and parents. Golden Boy came out in 1995 and never aired on TV here in the US, but the VHS hit US shelves and it was fairly well recieved by the few US anime critics at the time. In the second episode, he becomes enamored with Naoko, a Bitch in Sheep's Clothing teenage daughter of a local politician who has a habit of acting sweet and intimate around men but just enjoys playing with them. Genius Ditz: Kintaro always acts like an idiot for most of the episode, before amazing the woman he was chasing (as well as the audience). As the name implies it's a sequel of the original series, but it remains fairly unknown, in contrast to the original boom.

I would say, if you like Golden Boy, I would also recommend you to take the time and watch GTO, Great Teacher Onizuka, which is some what on the same level of humor, and reminded me a lot of each other. His adventures bring him knowledge and experience that can't be taught in a classroom, from political corruption to the delicacy of a young woman's heart. The viewer knows that certain jokes are coming and it somehow makes it funnier when they finally happen.
