About this deal

Perhaps they’ve practised consistently well, completed a particular piece, played in a school concert or completed a Fiddle Time Book! was the 20th anniversary of the first publication of Fiddle Time Starters, Joggers and Runners, and in celebration we wrote this free violin duet (approx. Very appropriate for young violinists, even those not yet reading music as there's a colour coded guide to starting to identify the strings.

An ideal first book for beginners with lots of short easy tunes to get children playing straight away. Covers the finger patterns used in Joggers and Runners and includes all the scales and arpeggios for ABRSM Grades 1 and 2.It's good for new and enthusiastic beginners, has clear diagrams on fingering and notes which for her tone deaf mother (me) is great as I have no idea what so ever! Kathy and David Blackwell have published over 60 books for young string players with Oxford University Press, including the progressive repertoire and technique books of the Fiddle, Viola, and Cello Time series, and books of pieces for junior string ensemble. Just one of the many exciting Music Tutor products from our immense range of Sheet Music, Songbooks and Music Gifts for all Musicians, Teachers, Bands, Choirs, and Schools. OUP has given a tremendous boost to its popular Fiddle Time series with a radical overhaul of the first book, Fiddle Time Starters . However the CD that comes with it, despite saying fiddle time starters on the cd, has the cello time starters tracks so we can not tune the violin to the tracks as described.

Overall I can't complain and the CD is a nice edition (still can't report on that because we haven't played it yet) - postage took a week and a half like they said it would. Great little tunes, opportunity to create your own, uses ‘proper’ music and the letters for numpties like me who are totally hopeless at reading music but want to help/be supportive. We don’t share your credit card details with third-party sellers, and we don’t sell your information to others. I am gradually integrating as much of this helpful material as I can into my 'normal' teaching even though pupils may be using a different book; it should I feel, be highlighted and held up as a shining example of 'best practice' within instrumental teaching training courses. Contains 3 new pieces, as well as your favourite open string pieces and tunes using the finger pattern 0-1-23-4. Carefully paced to suit young learners, the book supports players through the important early stages, step by step-from how to hold your instrument and bow, through basic notation, to pieces using the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd fingers. Great fun pieces, she is whizzing through the book and looking forward to getting her certificate at the end.
