About this deal

The iconic composer/trumpeter steps into the role of sideman on the 1958 set, one of just a handful of times he’d make such a move after the calendar passed the mid-1950s. Audio Venue Ltd, t/a Audio Venue is a credit broker, not a lender and is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FRN 738562). I totally agree with others, a simple high quality gatefold cover would be much much better for presentation and the haptic overall.

Extraordinarily expensive and extremely painstaking to produce, the special proprietary compound addresses two specific areas of improvement: noise floor reduction and enhanced groove definition. Among other sterling attributes, it shares that landmark’s emphasis on stark, easy-to-appreciate melodies. Plain and simple, Adderley’s jubilant work remains a jazz landmark due to the chemistry of its Hall of Fame personnel, enthusiasm of its participants, and sophistication of its arrangements – not to mention the reference-grade production and inclusion of the definitive renditions of two all-time jazz standards. Julian Cannonball Adderley’s only Blue Note album, Somethin’ Else, would likely forever be famous in music lore if just for the presence of Miles Davis. And then listen as bassist Sam Jones and drummer Art Blakey seize some of those stone-simple pianistic rejoinders and transform them into fuel for further agitation. The vibrant potency reveals itself openly on an analogue set that provides full-range reproduction of an ensemble that also includes pianist Hank Jones, bassist Sam Jones, and drummer Art Blakey.

As brilliant as each note is, those same notes seem understated, floating like smoke, sustained just long enough for rhythmic perfection. On the other hand, the surface is so sensible, I already have micro thin hairline cracks on the spines of the first inner slip case thingies. Adderley was a member of Davis' group at the time, and the album was recorded shortly after Davis' own landmark album Milestones. no R, they all sound (exceptionally) good, it's getting even better the closer you reach to this first pressing (West 63rd with no Inc. Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab’s UltraDisc One-Step (UD1S) technique bypasses generational losses inherent to the traditional three-step plating process by removing two steps: the production of father and mother plates, which are created to yield numerous stampers from each lacquer that is cut.

Miles, as quoted in the original liner notes, recounted, "All my inspiration today comes from Ahmad Jamal, the Chicago pianist.Through the choices he makes about notes and accents and phrasing, he establishes the size of the canvas, the temperament of the tune. Somethin' Else is an album by American jazz saxophonist Julian "Cannonball" Adderley, recorded on March 9, 1958 and released on Blue Note in August later that year—his only album for the label. Cannonball came from a very technical musical background, not only playing but teaching music, which is no doubt one of the reasons his particular form of Jazz both connects and resonates so well. What emerges is not just the sound of five players doing their jobs well, but a group reveling in their common ability to galvanize and shape each other’s ideas.
