The very first scene in the first volume feels so out of place in the story that it feels like it never happened.

At nightfall, as the Demon Child saves Casca from spiritually-animated corpses near the bank that Nina is fetching water from, Guts encounters the Skull Knight who reveals the God Hand are using St.

Guts later finds and kills the Baron before taking his leave, inspiring Puck to travel with the swordsman. Sometimes some of the panels are a bit cluttered and lack clarity, this is worse when there is lots of dialogue and sound effects but I wouldn't say it was a big problem. The two resolve their issues and consummate their love, Guts telling Casca to leave with him after they save Griffith.

I was a bit nostalgic for some of the animation I used to watch and I had heard good things about the 90s animated series and thought that might be a good way to spend time and find out if I wanted to commit to the comic series.Sometimes the pacing does this thing that I see all the time in lots of comics and films when some imminent danger is coming, yet lots of things manage to happen in that supposedly tiny space of time, including lots of dialogue. The four Guardian Angels of the God Hand appear and inform Griffith that his tribulations have led to him being chosen as their final member, which requires him to sacrifice the Band of the Hawk to everyone's shock. Kentaro Miura's Berserk has ouraged, horrified, and delighted manga and anime fanatics since 1989, creating an international legion of hardcore devotees and inspiring a plethora of TV series, feature films, and video games. Berserk has been my favorite manga, fantasy story and perhaps favorite story ever made for over a decade now and I was really sad to hear that the man behind the masterpiece passed away earlier this year.
