About this deal

If you’ve been a parent before you realize this Extreme exhaustion, pure stubbornness, sickness, whatever it is- sometimes even older kids want or need to be carried. First we got an original babybjorn (hands me down), while my baby was okay with it, she quickly outgrow it (she is now 14 lbs) and since it doesn’t have the waistband, it kills my back. Tom is supported way past mid thigh in a lovely deep squat, and then all the way up his back to his shoulders. USPS Priority Mail is estimated to take 1-3 days (excluding Sundays and holidays) depending on the destination. The Beco 8 did seem huge at first in comparison, but it's much more structured and it will definitely last us a long time.

Meg Beilsmith Collins started Lucie’s List in 2010 after learning everything about babies the hard way; she is now the Editor in Chief.Adjusting the strap length and waist belt is easy so swapping it between parents and carers is no problem, no matter your size. I personally preferred the front positions for Elodie, where you simply buckle up the thick waist band, carefully place your baby either facing in or out, then pull each strap over your shoulders while supporting the baby before buckling up the strap at the top of your back.

Rachel is supported all the way knee to knee and all the way upto the back of her neck, so there is plenty of growing room for her and I agree that this carrier wouldn't have fitted her well much before 18 months. With many other toddler carriers, it's often that lack of upper back support that can prove difficult in additional needs situations (depending on the individual need of the child). She is close to being able to move to the wider setting - she'll be ready when she can sit in it without the material passing the backs of her knees. The Beco Toddler is a generous carrier that allows you too keep carrying your child up until pre-school. The Tula toddler generally works once a child is in age 2 trousers and will last easily to 4 or even 5. We love that baby is safe and supported and that the carrier easily adjusts to my husband and my different body types.

It is worth noting that Connecta also make a pre-school size so if I were still carrying a child Tom's size I'd select that carrier over the toddler size. I understand they are working on making it more available so if you’re in the market hopefully it will be easier for you to find one than it was for me. I played with the chest strap level and tightness, along with the padded shoulder straps until it was workable (the Beco has PFA which are perfect fit adjusters for finer tuning) It took several times of wear to achieve this and was admittedly uncomfortable until I got it right. The soft supportive panel is combined with a supportive sturdy waistband and wide softly padded shoulders straps, making it a great option for anyone looking for something supportive and easy to use.It is worth noting that Tula have recently brought out a preschooler size which is bigger still and would be the better choice for carrying Rachel going forward! The Izmi Toddler carrier is also adjustable and also covers a huge age range from 9 months/1 year ish (or 8kg) through to roughly 4 years old.

Making the Neko switch a great option for anyone who wants a carrier that will last as long as possible. We needed a sling for my son whose 5 yo, koala slings went beyond my expectations and sourced a sling for us that they would normally only give to local residents so that my son who has a disability could enjoy his trip. The width has 4 poppered settings and a drawstring to give fine tuning between each of the poppered settings.

Disclosure- this post comes from an experienced babywearer but I do not claim to be a babywearing expert or perfectionist. One of the reasons we stopped babywearing was that my son equated being worn in a carrier to missing out on the fun. The last bit of “baby” I had from him was that he still crept into bed with me in the middle of the night for much appreciated snuggles on all sides.
