Description

This is the original Catalog Raisonné of the Banksy Museum, in which all these works are reproduced in their urban contexts, allowing the general public to discover them in a realistic way and to grasp their strength, including those that have been stolen or defaced and no longer exist. Wall and Piece' comprises a three-part series of previously published books by Banksy, including 'Banging Your Head Against a Brick Wall', 'Existencilism', and 'Cut It Out'. Hazis Vardar, owner and producer of theatres (notably The Palace Nightclub in Paris) is the founder of the Banksy museums (in Paris, Brussels, Barcelona, Prague, Milan and Dubai). If you’ve been crying yourself to sleep over your failings as a rat athlete in the rat olympics of late-capitalist life then take comfort.

I think given the title ‘Seven Years With Banksy’, I would not expect there to be a great deal of new information in the newer version. Banksy to date (February 2020) has only ever published 4 books and they are all fabulous, especially as they are written by him not a narrator and give you some insight into his world and its’s just fun to hear his thoughts about these early pieces and destinations. I do not claim to have read all these books (yet), I will however attempt to give a short opinion on each book based on my own experience and reviews I have read online. Outside of Banksy’s own authorised output there are a myriad of titles covering all angles ranging from in depth analysis of his work to colouring in books. This book guides readers through Banksy’s artistic processes and explains his influences, such as the Situationism movement and the May 1968 uprising in Paris.

The first incendiary collection of stencils and graffiti from Banksy, presented and bound in a handy pocket sized high quality format. He wrote this artist biography book to make contemporary art approachable and enjoyable for his two children. In a culture that is so sated with the idea of celebrity, here's an artist who doesn't want to be recognised so that he can be free to get on with his work.

This copy is from the fourteenth printing and sports a characteristic endorsed sticker indicating that this edition contains 10% more contents. What plays a large part in my work is an interest in the back stories igniting an interest from an entire generation. The world’s most celebrated artist, Banksy, keeps going from strength to strength and this latest edition of Where’s Banksy?
