Description

In the revived series, the Sonic became a whole new facet of the show, slowly becoming synonymous with the Doctor himself. The Sonic Screwdriver URC’s light-up blue tip is made from a blue, self-coloured, injection moulded acrylic. This provides an elegant solution but means that the cover ring has to taper less than this feature on the original prop. To do the push forward gesture or the pull back gesture, hold the Sonic Screwdriver steady and level and jab it quickly forward or pull it back quickly, moving it no more than about 10 cm (4″).

There was a great worry behind the scenes that having access to the device would lead to lazier writing and fewer options for story resolutions. It has been carefully fabricated from a mix of copper plated die-cast metal, engineering plastics and soft-touch, leather-effect, thermoplastic rubber to give a truly realistic product. Note a silent version of this function is accessed by pressing the button 4 times quickly, while in FX Mode, and holding down the fourth press. Three quick presses of the Sonic button in Programming Mode will cycle between its three memory banks (A,B,C) allowing storage of up to three different sets of 13 IR remote control codes. The sonic sunglasses are an adjunct to the sonic screwdriver and have arrived because the Doctor likes Ray-Bans!Following the success of the 11th Doctor Sonic Screwdriver Universal Remote, The Wand Company are releasing a follow up in the form of the 10th Doctor’s Sonic Screwdriver!

This new toy version is a faithful recreation of the current Doctor’s Sonic Screwdriver which debuted in the Series 9 Episode ‘Hell Bent’. To become expert at the gestures, put the Sonic Screwdriver into Practice Mode and perform each of the gestures in turn. In FX Mode a long button press makes the Sonic buzz and lights the tip for as long as the button is pressed. High grade polished aluminum is used on this piece, Along with it’s unique display base it makes a very nice display on anyones desk! This has included taking 3D laser scans of the original prop (kindly loaned to us by David Tennant), accurately tracing the exact craquelure finish on the main body and using machined aluminium for the metal parts.

Press and hold the slider-mounted button to light the tip and make the classic sonic buzz, just like The Doctor. It’s easy to set up, looks fantastic, has the perfect size and weight, the sounds are brilliant, it reacts well to the movements and it’s just absolutely lovely. To do the flick gestures (left, right, up and down), hold the Sonic Screwdriver steady and level and flick it sharply in the desired direction, moving the tip no more than about 10 cm (4″). e. with the positive pips facing into the Sonic Screwdriver battery compartment, and make sure that you align the two yellow dots on the housing halves when you reassemble the Sonic. For optimum remote control performance, please only use the Sonic as a remote control when retracted.
