My usual thanks to all my current supporters and shoutouts to my big money boys: So, if you are okay with these facts, then you should go for this headphone as the sound quality itself is a lot for the headphone. Final Words Choosing the right DAC/amp is important here, as it could mean the difference between well-balanced audio and sibilant treble and upper-mids. Either way you won’t get an overbearing amount of bass response (that’s a good thing in our opinion) and should expect a decently wide soundstage and imaging.

On an objective level, the headphone that has superior audio fidelity and quality, for the most part on the low end, is the HD58x Jubilee by a narrow margin. It feels purer. The treble also feels cleaner and there is no “veil” that is present in the HD650/HD6xx. Subjective In the high frequencies the HD6XX is a bit more reserved than it should be. It sounds absolutely realistic and provides a lot of information, but in the top end it might be a few dB more without making the sound too bright or artificial in my opinion. This could also give the HD6XX more transparency. Here I would like a more direct response, but as in the bass and mids this is criticism on a high level, because basically the HD6XX does everything right when it comes to natural sound reproduction. Only a little bit the effervescence is missing, but life is not a rainbow-colored unicorn and therefore you can't really blame the HD6XX when it tries to stay authentic. Sibilants or peaks I can't make out, which makes for an absolutely safe and fatigue-free sound experience. Tonal correctness is clearly more important for the HD6XX than the big show. If the clapping and screaming of people is placed at completely different places in the soundstage, he is totally okay with that if this is the price for the piercing treble he likes. Imaging: a little weird. Vocals are up front and centre all the time and instruments tend to blend together despite the wide stage they are placed in. Four years ago there was even a meme on the then-fabled HD8XX (with an entire saga between said memer and Massdrop thereafter), and years after that the masses continued clamouring on and on for the HD6XX-equivalent to the HD800. For years the community heard nothing… right up to the beginning of 2021.Like for tonality, here is my personal hierarchy for the technical performance of Sennheiser’s headphones: Headphones not only gives great audio experiences, but it also keeps you isolated from the noise of the outside world, and lets you enjoy music peacefully without any interference. So for enjoying music and other things, you must own good headphones. Got these two days ago, and until then I used 598SE corrected by Sonarworks. For the 560S I don’t really need correction, except on the monitoring bus of my DAW when mixing. Upon first use on my head, the clamping pressure is too much for me to handle. It was the same with the HD650, my HD600, my HD580 and even my older favorite the HD485. Time is your friend, let it breathe and stretch on some books or a headphone stand that is wide.

I got these because I had the DT 880 and wanted soemthing that was darker while still being neutral and not too expensive. These were recommended to me as fitting that bill and also being similar to the HD650, so it would also give me a chance to hear what others people frequently reference. That is one of the main reason I bought them as well, they were something tons of others have tried and I could compare my opinion to theirs to get a good internal reference. I used them with the CEntrance DACport HD. After listening to one slow ambient song, that usually felt ominous and intense as the plodding bass increased in energy feel pleasant and mild, that sealed the fate of the HD6xx as being labeled unengaging by me. I originally didn't notice because in music I couldn't tell the difference. I still can't. I don't think I listen for that kind of stuff, and my music probably doesn't take advantage of positional audio enough anyway. The difference was only noticeable in competitive shooters, specifically Apex Legends. The HD 6XX are a welcome and brilliantly executed second generation for one of Sennheiser’s best values, and a chance to nab easily accessible audiophile sound for a serious bargain. Is there a better alternative?

The HD560S can be described as simply “neutral”. Some may argue that it’s closer to being “bright-neutral”, but in comparison to something like the HD800S it’s not as peaky. As a result, it might not give the sound you want if you connect it with your phone. It will be good to use with computers, however, you will still need an app for that so that you can get the exact sound you need. I wouldn’t have any second thoughts of getting rid of the 660s, but the 600 and 6xx… I don’t ever want to part with either. A truly legendary headphone series for a reason. I can absolutely see why some may prefer the HD600 over the HD6xx, and I love them both. However, I could absolutely do without the HD660s. I've never truly loved them, but hearing the other two made me disappointed in the HD660s even more. I don't regret buying them, and they served me very well, but... I paid at least double for them and the return on investment just isn't there. Live and learn! Also I'd like to mention that I think the HD6XX is still a good headphone. Also that the difference was so strong most likely because I don't put in the effort to listen. Still tho, it's impressive that I don't have to try now. Also sorry about the long post. These have a pretty solid soundstage, much bigger than your typical closed headphone. They definitely excel with any kind of acoustic music. I have also found that they're great headphones for tuning a system because it's very easy to hear changes in the system and make sense of them. Very balanced sound.

These headphones are all mids. I feel like the entire section is highlighted. It's present from the very first use. Something about this sounds speaker-like too, like it's similar to speakers, not a "headphone sound". This is a pro and a con IMO. It's good because it's more familiar and what I am used to in my mind, but also bad because it feels a bit off from other headphones I have experience with. Compared to my previous headphone though, DT880 250ohms, it sounds a mix of way more lively, aggressive, and “correct”. The value and price to performance on this headphone are beyond absurdly great. One quality I did notice was that the HD58x Jubilee at 150ohm fairs much better at low listening levels than the HD6xx at 300ohm, which obviously requires more power to get a nicer experience from. The latter is very soft, so lower listening levels mutes the top end a bit too much, whereas the HD58x still retains good treble quantity at lower listening volumes. However, it might not be a good idea to use it with mobile phones as they need too much power to run smoothly and produce the perfect sound. For which you might also need to use an amp and a DAC, and also for the reason that the HD6XX has a sensitivity of 103 dB / 1 Vrms and a resistance rate of 300 ohms. Among all the audio brands in the market, the Sennheiser is one of the most esteemed brands. They have been producing very nice and quality headphones for quite some time and their headphones have met the needs of audiophiles in a great way. Recently they have released two different models of headphones which are Sennheiser HD6XX and Sennheiser HD650. On lower end gear, the gap between quality overall in bass between these two is not significant at all and sometimes feels too close to call which is objectively cleaner. The HD58x Jubilee has very low to end of moderate levels of bass quantity and doesn’t respond very well to bass boosting. If you are a basshead, grab a set of JVC SZ2000’s, haha!

The headphone weighs 260 grams which is not much to bear, so it is comfortable to wear on your head. Like the HD6XX, it also has a massive frequency response, which is from 12 Hz to 40.5 kHz, which makes it really versatile. The distortion percentage of headphones is less than 0.05%, which is really impressive. For our testing, we tried two amps: a traditional desktop DAC/amp from Creative and a portable DAC/amp from THX called the THX Onyx. Both have the signal output to drive these headphones given their high sensitivity, but it should be feasible to drive them from some phones and portable audio players without an additional piece of hardware. In this headphone, the little unevenness there is in high-frequency sounds causes mostly by similar sounds and cymbals, with which one will get used to soon. The transients are well defined and crisp, and their decay into ambiance happens naturally. Crinacle also likes the Dusk which is one of the worst IEM that was ever made. I have not met a single person that likes the Dusk in real life. Everyone just says the treble is so painful, they rather not listen to music. The bass is quite linear, with a slight drop in the subrange. Therefore, it is more emphasized in the mid-bass without being exaggerated, but still close to the neutral ideal. I would like to see a bit more punch and firmness, but when it comes to fun in the low end, the HD6XX likes to give the sceptre away and prefers to limit itself to a natural response and realism. For me it would be close to the ideal if it would give off 2-3 dB in the upper bass and add this to the sub bass. If you prefer a well-dosed, natural bass, which is a bit softer but not muddy, the HD6XX is the right choice.

The HD6XX model of Sennheiser was released in 2018, which is considered an update of the HD650 model. It has a price of 220 USD, which is actually very reasonable, about which we will talk about later. It weighs 9 ounces approximately, and sadly it doesn’t have waterproofing features.
