Her only resource for survival was to join the Russian military, disguise her true identity due to a masacre which took out her family, and hope to god she doesn’t get caught. Because to be caught could get her thrown out and potentially getting her killed in the process. One scene definitely had my heart rate spiking not so far into the book where it all could’ve unraveled. The heroine: Sasha (a.k.a. Aleksander) - she is from a wealthy Russian family, most of whom were murdered in a massacre. Her uncle tells her that the only way to protect herself and the rest of her family that somehow survived was to join the Russian Army. She is undercover as a man named Aleksander, her hair has been chopped off, she wears bindings around her breasts and is doing her best to not be a weakling, though she is thinner and smaller than all the other brutes in her unit.

I must admit the writing style here is better when compared to most of RK books, and I love that for us. ✨ Erik and Eduard touch me on each shoulder, grin like Cheshire cats, and scream at the same time, “We won!” We do know that in book 3 that she refers to her ''monster'' as her husband soooo how do they get to that? Is she finally revealed as a woman?THE SMUT SCENES 😂🤭 Sasha actually fainted the first time they got intimate, as they were in a sauna and he wasn't stopping at all. When they finally had sex, he was so into it, going again and again because he was addicted to her. Both of them are confused and uncertain about where they stand with each other. Sasha casually told him 'It was convenient' to have sex, which made him furious 😂, and they ended up in a 'we use each other' relationship. And it didn't happen till 60% of the book! executing 6 months long plans to get into Kirill's office for documents she assumes might be there. What even is this plan?? She doesn't know what files she is searching for or if he is involved😭 She doesn't know anything at all!! What leads is she following to waste so much time?? Kirill's possessiveness and physical attraction toward her come out of nowhere. He sees her half-naked form for the first time, calls her a "she" in his head for the first time too and that's all it takes to fall for her. Sebastian York and Brooke Daniels were the absolute 𝙗𝙚𝙨𝙩 pairing for narrating this trilogy. The deep, growly voice of SY truly brought Kirill to life for me. And the way Brooke Daniels played out the emotions of Sasha was epic!! Yea she threw something alright😭😭🤣🤣🤣 did no one tell her that saving the gun is useless when you throw the body it's meant to protect in the first place.

I loved the friendships Sasha made with a few of Kirill's close guards. They accept her as is and never think low of her. (They all believe she is a man) There was a lot of action in this book, the story was intriguing and kept my interest from start to finish, as with most Rina Kent books. Kirill was obviously the same guy that we saw in earlier books about the Russian Bratva (Deception Trilogy, Throne Duet). He was always a handsome but dangerous guy with his own secrets and was always looking out for number one. Kirill is the same in this book, but we get to see inside him in this one and find out why Sasha was with him and still pretending to be a man. Did I mention that he loves scolding me? Because he does, and he does it all the time. He also tends to show love in the strangest ways, like buying me gifts but never giving them to me personally. Kirill ran for one hour while carrying Sasha when she got shot. Kirill ran for one hour while carrying Sasha when she got shot.I read the deception trilogy and knew about Kirill and his bodyguard Sasha since then, I wasn’t sure if I wanted to read an entire trilogy or even a book about them. However, I love everything Rina Kent puts out there, so I started this one with a grain of salt and ended loving it from the start. The story started with a bang and I loved the first few meetings between these two. They are both strong characters, though both suffer from nightmares about their respective pasts. Rina Kent is physically mentally spiritually unable to write a serious book, she tries, it just never happens. Not only did they help me, but they also helped you and offered you warmth and shelter from a deadly storm. How are you supposed to protect your soldiers if you can't display gratitude to your benefactors?" IMAGINE MY SURPRISE when I realized that RK included at least one character with two functioning brain cells in this book and that character, blessed be his soul, turned out to be our Russian mafia prince hero — Kirill. He immediately discovers what a big fat terrible secret Sasha has up her sleeve so no "wtf, am I gay" hysterical revelations for us from this guy. ❤️ Thank god for small mercies, love me some originality (but in strictly small doses).

I really can’t remember a time he’s played something other than annoying board games with me. He says it’s to teach me critical thinking, but I honestly don’t see the point behind it. My shoes sink in the deep snow. Papa told the staff not to shovel it out of the garden, just the entryway. It’s impossible to win the battle against snow in the northern part of the country. And yet my family owns a few vacation houses in these areas due to the stunning, undisturbed nature. Yeah, well. It’s boring to stay inside all day. And Babushka would be like: Sit properly, Sasha! Stop being a clown, Sasha! Don’t make me repeat myself, Sasha! And then she’d correct my posture with her cane.” I huff. “I hate that thing.”

But nothing. Nothing. Infuriates me more than strangers shoving their noses into someone's family business. It wasn't until about four years ago when I lost them that I realized just how privileged we were.❞ A few blond strands escape his beanie and get in his eyes. Eduard shoves them away with clear impatience. We’re mostly blonds in this family, but our eyes differ. The identical twins have light blue eyes that can blend with the snow. They’re also annoyingly taller than me. It’s impossible to jump as high as they can, and they’ve been rubbing it in my face all through puberty. Kirill. This man won my heart. He’s protective, understanding, and calculating. He knows what’s he’s doing 🤷🏻‍♀️. The fact that he still wants Sasha around after all her shenanigans (and almost getting them killed) is admirable. We can’t hate a hero who isn’t wishy washy, and Kirill’s NOT when it comes to Sasha. No other woman for this hero… just the way I like ‘em 😉. Plus. He endured a shit load of horrible injustices growing up with that man as his father 😑😑😞😞😞. Extra points from me
