Description

Shiranui explains what’s wrong with Roy, Suzume gushes over his observational skills and competence. The series also has a specialist as consultant, so as much of the information and designs are as accurate as possible. Translation for the English version of this manga is by John Neal, with lettering by JM Iitomi Crandall. For dinosaur fans who wished that Jurassic Park showed more of the park's day-to-day operation, or for those who once dreamed of having a pet dinosaur, then Dinosaur Sanctuary is a must-read manga. I didn’t realise how much I needed to see a Triceratops sitting in a cat loaf position until I saw one in Dinosaur Sanctuary .

Heartfelt Apology: Kaidou, feeling guilty for the suicide of Suzume's father, gives one to Suzume once he tells her of the infamous Ichigo incident. For instance, in the first chapter, we see the crew of Enoshima Dinoland having to deal with a visiting school party as well as plenty of enclosure cleaning, both of which come with their own issues. Weather is also incredibly effectively portraited, mostly hot sunny days, with insect noises as little bits of text here and there, but also stormy rainy days too. Suma Suzume is flawlessly written, and her enthusiasm and passion leap off the page, making it impossible to not root for her, as her inexperience allows her to set up situations where other characters can teach the audience about dinosaurs and the park without it feeling like you're being crushed under constant exposition dumps.

TLDR; young girl with passion for dinosaurs never grew up and became a dinosaur zookeeper in her twenties. The next shorter tale is maybe my favourite, which focuses on two characters visiting the Dinoland on a sort of accidental date. Fossil Revival: In the series' universe, scientists managed to achieve this in the 1980s, thanks to breakthroughs in genetic science. You had me at “The manga depicted dinosaurs as animals with specialised needs in captivity, as most wild animals are, but generally no more (and no less) troublesome than most modern animals found in zoos. A stork-size theropod may be a dangerous animal to handle, but more in the way that a grumpy cassowary is potentially dangerous.
