Contrary to what some might think, it is not about where it is made. If this were the criteria, Ealing Gin would, of course, qualify being made right in the heart of Ealing, West London. The truth is, a gin made anywhere could qualify as a London Dry. Ealing Summer Festivals – comprising the very best of Jazz, Blues and Comedy – has a new headline sponsor for 2022… the award winning, locally crafted Ealing Gin. sprayed-on organic inks instead of using decals… meaning we’ve removed plastics from the process completely. We’ve also made other logistical changes that have massively reduced our use of transport and fuel… meaning a far lighter carbon footprint. Ealing Gin won a gold medal in the recent highly prestigious IWSC (International Wine & Spirits Competition) in the London Dry Gin category with a score of 95 points. Judges commented on the “Juicy citrus, floral, camomile and juniper clearly coming through on the aromas in the nose. Botanicals layering on the palate with pine and juniper at the forefront combining with citrus. Good balance and classical flavours displayed in this spirit.” We got the base right then started fiddling with the top notes. In the end we went through 29 recipes and a lot of different botanicals. We had our little tasting team tasting all the way and eventually we went into production with number 22, because everybody loved that one.” How will you serve your Ealing Gin?

We are proud to say, our super premium, award-winning London dry, Ealing Gin was selected by The Cask Spirit Company to produce its cask strength London dry gin. Winche is an independent wine merchant located in West Ealing. It offers ales, beers, ciders, spirits and wines from all over the world... many of which have been recommended by customers. Winche is known for its customer service. Having launched in late 2019, the brand was just starting to get off the ground when the coronavirus pandemic threatened to clip its wings – but Amanda says that being very new to the market was more of a help than a hindrance. “It has delayed progress rather than destroyed us out of hand,” she says. “We were not established enough to be losing a lot of business, we were still trying to build business. The on-trade was not huge for us yet. We are seeing it as a hiccough, but we have been doing really well in those six months. Pro Tip: Mix with Azaline Vermouth, either shaken or stirred, for a martini full of rich flavor. Use 1 part vermouth and between 3 and 5 parts Herno gin, depending on how strong you like your martini. Use ice in the mixing, but strain out the ice to serve. Elephant Gin 7. Elephant Gin, Germany The Ealing Summer Festival is a massively popular fixture on the West London summer social scene, attracting thousands of people and featuring some of the biggest names in comedy, jazz and blues. “We are delighted to have a local business as our headline partner, especially a brand that embodies everything we love about Ealing. The beautiful bottle design is an homage to Ealing Borough’s iconic Art Deco architectural gems. Each bottle is hand finished then fired in small batches… the tones and hues of each bottle, therefore, slightly vary…all the more individual! Riding Wine Co. is an independent, local wine shop and bar. It sells natural wines, made by family-owned and passionate winemakers. The idea to make a gin that spoke of its roots came from Amanda’s family in the north east. “I am originally from Durham, and Durham Gin launched in 2014. Because a lot of my family are in the north east we got about 10 bottles of Durham Gin in the first year after it launched, because everyone that came down brought us a bottle,” she laughs. “We thought Ealing people would do that to show off a product from their town and people are telling us that that is what they are doing with our gin – taking a little bit of where they are from as gifting.” The ‘queen on London’ dry gin is inspired by Ealing’s parks and gardens

The unequivocal “qualification” for being a London Dry Gin is all about how it is made. All the flavour in a London Dry Gin must be created via the distillation process - absolutely no additives (flavour essences, colours etc) can be added afterwards. In short, with a London Dry Gin what you distill is what you get... there’s no messing about with the flavour afterwards.
