If you have natural hair or extremely dry hair, a hair oil that actually works to add moisture to your strands can be a complete game-changer. This one has an almost perfect rating at Ulta, and it’s easy to understand why. It can be used on the lengths of your hair like a traditional hair oil, on wet or dry strands, or as the brand says, for the skin too.

Hard Wax Oil is a particular blend of tough oils combined with special waxes which dries to an exceptionally resilient finish. Ideal for anything that is going to be subjected to water splashes or a lot of handling, this oil may not be indestructible, but it will stand up to a lot of abuse.Oil finishes bring out the natural colours of timber. A wet surface will be an indication of the final colour. Always test product on a spare surface or inconspicuous area for colour, compatibility and end result. Ensure the wood is bare with no previous finish and is clean, dry and dust free. Remove any wax finishes with Liberon Wax and Polish Remover and any varnish finishes with Liberon Fine Wood Stripper. When finishing cedar wood, we recommend using linseed oil. This type of oil is the most popular with woodworkers, as well as cedar cladding users and craft enthusiasts.

SFO is extremely durable; you can use it on your floors! It is mostly an oil product that soaks into wood, but it does have a bit of resin that sits on top and adds a protective barrier. All of our oils are suitable for furniture and the one you chose should depend on what the furniture is used for. For tables or items of furniture you’ll use regularly you should choose a hard wearing oil like Danish Oil, which will also offer stain and liquid protection. For all other items you could just select the oil that best suits your desired look and finish. There are also mixtures sold as finishing oils. These are classed as 'long oils', predominantly oil with some varnish added or as 'short oils' which are predominantly varnish, with some oil. [2] Danish oil is a popular long oil finishing oil. Spar varnish is a short oil varnish, used for added flexibility and elasticity. In this blog post we aim to help you better understand what the different types of wood oils are and what one you should use for your project. To get an indication of how the wood will look once oiled, test a similar piece of wood or discrete area by applying a wet cloth to the bare wood. Also known as china wood oil, Tung oil is a clear plastic coating used in printing inks and oil paints. This type of oil can be weakened with a hydrocarbon thinner, which enables the oil to penetrate the finest grain woods. When applied in several thin coats, Tung oil can produce a satin ‘wetted wood’ look with a golden tint. Our recommended choice is Liberon Pure Tung Oil. These finishes are a historical finish for wood, primarily as means of making it weather or moisture resistant. Finishing oils are easily applied, by wiping with a cloth. They are also simply made, by extraction from plant sources with relatively simple processing. Historically, both of these were considerable advantages over varnishes, that depended upon exotic imported plant resins, complex preparation and careful application with expensive brushes. As always, make sure you’re starting with a clean surface. For wood applications, we do recommend you at least scuff sand, if not sand down to raw wood. A finish with 220 grit is a great way to prepare raw wood for SFO. For an even application, ensure that the surface is sanded evenly with the same grit. Boiled linseed oil, on the other hand, has had hot air passed through it tosignificantly acceleratethe drying time. The oil seeps into the pores of the wood and provides a traditional hardwearing wood finish. It is suitable for use on all types of wood (except exterior oak). We would recommend using either danish oil or teak oil for ash. These oil finishes will help keep the natural blonde colour of ash. However, when exposed to excessive UV light, the wood can yellow slightly causing darker tones in the grain. To avoid this, some users will bleach the wood prior to oiling. If you would like an oil finish on a piece of mahogany, we recommend using tung oil, linseed oil or teak oil. These oil options are great for interior use, and will not leave a glassy sheen on the mahogany.

Always use gentle soap for cleaning oiled wood, no degreasing products like dish soap. Renew the oil with a very light additional coat every year or 2 years depending on the use of the surface. Suitable for all types of bare wood, and will give a matt - satin finish depending upon the number of coats applied.Yes definitely! For this application, we suggest brushing or wiping on and immediately removing the excess. It works well as a glaze or to add a beautiful sheen over the paint. Please be aware that the SFO, like all oil-based products, does yellow over time, and this will show up more dominantly over a white base. We recommend using a tung oil for oak surfaces. This type of oil will maintain the oak's colour as well as character. However, if you would like to darken the oak, hardwax oil is more ideal. Another popular oil for oak is danish oil. This type of oil can bring out the rich tones in the wood as well as preventing surface stains.
