Vinyl 1: Original album newly remastered in sleeve replicating the original album on 180 gram vinyl. You can look at a site such as Discogs to et an idea of value of albums – it all comes down to condition. The fact that Physical was released in 1975 but Song wasn’t released until 1976 indicates that you have a later reissue of Physical (because the Song labels didn’t exist yet in 1975). Arts Jewel Music Publishing credits printed on both labels but the track listing text is spread out.

Side 1 of my copy has a pressing fault which causes the needle to mistrack in a few places on the first 2 tracks causing some distortion. If you were to assemble a hard rock band you’d probably want John Bonham on drums, John Paul Jones on bass, Jimmy Page on guitar and Robert Plant on vocals. As for value: about the same as a Physical reissue, but you may get a bit more from a collector who views it as a curiosity. Anyway, to the point, Porky is just one of many iterations of dead-wax notations from the king of all mastering (imo) George Peckham, not George Piros as you’ve mentioned. In 2010 there was a re-issue of the turquoise-lettered version, supposedly limited to only 1000 copies.Rock album baths were changed at over far longer periods, so Grant had them change the baths as often fro LZ vinyl records. The UK pressing would be reasonable but I think you would get the best sonics for your money if you can get an old Japanese pressing of LZI. The record arrived in perfect shape, being well packaged and posted quite quickly meeting my requirements perfectly. I’m prepared to take a small drop in quality to pay a lot less and enjoy every other aspect of vinyl ownership. I also bought a sealed brand new“pink” vinyl LZ IV around 1977-8 in Scotland from reputable retail outlet in Dundee as teenager.

Well thank you – high praise indeed – it’s always good to find things that aren’t easily look-up-able on the internet (yes, that is a word) and therefore a bit different.

The 70s launched off from an international space-age dream and thrust the world into a fabulous new age that celebrated revolution, science, and boogie fever. It comes down to personal taste, but even if I had the money I wouldn’t feel happy about spending a grand on a record. The 2nd pressing has orange sleeve lettering with grey stripe at bottom on front cover and without Superhype credits with instead Warner Bros/7 Arts. Mispressings like this happen a lot more than most people think, as it can sometimes be chaos in the pressing plant. If it’s titled “2 Originals of Led Zeppelin” with a catalog number ATL 80 005, it’s a withdrawn set released in 1974 in Germany and Yugoslavia only.
