Description

Tordon-75-D is registered as a spray treatment for control of a wide range of annual and perennial broadleaf weeds in winter and summer cereals, fallow, sugar cane (QLD only) and agricultural non-crop areas. Do not treat areas intended to be used for cultivated sensitive crops or other desirable plants in sequential years. It may take up to five years for herbicides containing picloram to be deactivated by the soil. Clippings from grass or crops which have been treated with Tordon 22K should not be used for composting or mulching, nor should the manure from animals grazing treated areas or fed treated forage be used around susceptible plants. Glyphosate: This is the active ingredient in most weed killers. It has high potency against the roots of plants so you’ll need to be careful not to damage the surrounding plants. If you still have questions regarding the use and application of tree stump killers, we provided the answers for these questions. How soon should I apply the tree stump killer after cutting down the tree?

Another feature we liked was the no-freeze compound that is added to the liquid. Unlike other products which are only suitable for warm weather usage, Tordon RTU can be used any time of the year and even when the temperature drops in the winter. The anti-freeze quality means that liquid will stay usable and the stump will absorb it even in cold temperatures. Most tree stump killers use chemicals that work on the roots of the tree and make it easier to remove the stump. But others use a more forceful approach and get the job done with nails driven into the stump. Whatever approach you use depends on the size of the tree stump, its location, and safety concerns. When a tree stump stands out like a sore thumb in your landscape then you need a fast-acting and powerful stump remover. Spectracide HG-66420 Stump Remover hits the mark with its powerful chemical ingredients and easy application.

All you need to do is water the tree with water that has a very low PH balance. The high acidity will kill it. I’m actually surprised no one has suggested this. The best way to discreetly kill a tree that also has all the hallmarks of natural tree death isn’t to drive copper nails into it, as that is too obvious. Rather use chemistry as an aide. If you can make Copper sulfate that is still in aqueous form, I.E. In Sulphuric acid. All you would need to do is come up with a means of delivering it to the roots. Whether it is a tree in your yard or close to it, all that needs to be done is to dig up a piece of sod in your lawn and fold it over. Then proceed to dig a least a foot down forming a trench and then dumping the contents into the trench. Dump a lot to ensure an adequate amount disperses and the tree will soak it in, it could take a year or two, but the chemical composition exists in nature, to begin with. If you need faster results, just dump round up and or any other herbicide well beneath the surface of the lawn. Upon completion of dumping, fill the hole or trench with clean fill and sod over the area. You may need to use a sprinkler to ensure your grass survives. However, grass’ roots don’t go much deeper than a few inches, to begin with hence why you need to dig deep. Happy hunting. Non-chemical products will work any season even in the winter. You can use nail spikes all year round without having to wait for the soil to warm up. Other chemical products such as Dow AgroSciences RTU548 Tordon RTU have an anti-freeze ingredient that lets you use the product on the tree stump no matter how cold the temperature is. I have a sprouting tree stump, what should I do about it? Picloram can be sprayed on foliage, injected into plants, applied to cut surfaces, or placed at the base of the plant where it will leach to the roots. Once absorbed by the foliage, stem, or roots, picloram is transported throughout the plant.

Tordon 22K Specialty Herbicide provides all-purpose noxious weed control as well as basic invasive weed management. It also provides the best leafy spurge control available and is an excellent choice for field bindweed control. Controls invasive weeds such as Japanese Knotweed. What does Tordon 22K herbicide control? Tordon 22K herbicide controls a wide range of perenial and annual broad leaved weeds in non-crop land. It is also effective against woody weeds and scrub. It will not harm grass when used at the correct dosage. So you want to kill a tree under cover. Loads of copper spikes, and electricity. Use an acidic fertilizer for pine trees. Overwatering it daily on top of all this. At night under the cover of darkness hit it with a hatchet to girdle it. Or bore a hole halfway through the tree and plant an M-80 in it. Place a sign like die commie dork in crayons and light the fuse and run inside your house. They will think neighborhood kids assaulted your tree. Drill several holes in roots under the soil and pore Tordon in it. Tordon is the best tree killer on the market. It’s what most arborists recommend for killing the hardiest trees.

Use a drill and a 1/2 inch (12 mm) drill bit to drill a belt of holes around the base of the tree trunk. Angle the holes downward at 45-degrees. Each hole should be 1 1/2 inches (4 cm) deep. Drill a hole every 2–3 inches around the tree’s circumference. Then, fill the holes with Roundup or Tordon from a sprayer or squeeze bottle applicator. Trees transport nutrients just beneath the bark. By removing a ring of bark, you stop the flow of nutrients from the roots to the branches. Although ringbarking without applying herbicide may kill some trees, there is a chance the tree roots will survive. This is why we recommend following it up with application of a herbicide product. InjectionProbably the safest products to use are those that don’t require drilling. Liquid chemical tree stump killers such as Dow AgroSciences RTU548 Tordon RTU don’t require mixing or preparation. You just squirt them on the tree stump and let the active ingredient accelerate the decomposition of the wood. Tree Stump Killer FAQs Committee to Review the Health Effects in Vietnam Veterans of Exposure to Herbicides; Institute of Medicine (1994). Veterans and Agent Orange: Health Effects of Herbicides Used in Vietnam. National Academies Press. pp.89–90. ISBN 978-0-309-55619-4. It is interesting to note that there are multiple ways to apply Tordon to undesired trees, which is perhaps unsurprising considering how bark serves as a capable protector of its more vulnerable counterparts. For example, if people are looking to get rid of a tree stump, they can either paint Tordon or spray Tordon on the cambium. In contrast, if people are working with a more intact tree, they are going to need to put more effort into the whole business. Copper nails hammered into the tree. Do this late at night so no one is awake to see you. Do what you can to muffle the noise, make sure the nails are all the way in so they won’t be noticed. My dad swore by this method. Simple Way: Have kids dig hole next to the tree while playing. After dark, fill the hole with Epsom salts and cover with dirt. Sooner or later it’ll succumb.

Spring is not the ideal time to kill standing trees with a herbicide solution. In spring, sap flows upward from the roots. Any herbicide administered through the bark may not reach the roots. This could result in the upper portions of the tree dying while new shoots come up from the roots and base of the trunk. What is the Best Herbicide for Killing a Tree? A major issue I see with this idea is that digging a hole next to a tree is not easy because of all the tree roots in the way. On the downside, you cannot use this product on freshly cut tree stumps. It only works on aged wood that has been left under the elements for at least one year. Pros Pile mounds of rich soil around the trunk to about 2′ deep and plant a garden in that soil that gets watered regularly. The wet soil against the trunk will bring bugs that destroy and eat into the bark and kill the tree. Takes a few years, so enjoy the garden. Remember, when the tree is THERE, it’s a shade garden, but once the tree has fallen, it may be a sun garden. Plan accordingly. While larger trees will resist this method, if the tree in your yard is small enough, you can kill it with a foliar spray. What is the Best Way to Kill a Standing Tree? For an inexpensive chemical-based tree stump killer, Bonide (BND272) – Ready to Use Stump Remover does a good job killing stumps by accelerating their decomposition without the need to chop at the stump or resort to more aggressive measures. It also allows you to burn the stump down to the root and get the job done in a shorter time. Tordon is a brand name for a group of herbicides containing picloram.
