Description

DK brings you an all-encompassing and illustrated guide to your pregnancy journey, from the moment of conception to the first two weeks of your newborn's life. Its size. There are a ludicrous number of pictures that are mostly unnecessary (I don't need a daily foetus development photo - you can imagine how little variance there is from photo to photo at that frequency) with the end result that the book is so large that it's too heavy to lift to read for any duration, but even in the first trimester was way too uncomfortable to have it resting against my abdomen whilst reading, so I had to prop it awkwardly on cushions balanced in my lap any time I wanted to read it. Featuring Q&As with both experts and mums also provides extra support, answering common questions and offering reassurance for any questions or concerns you may have about pregnancy, from your pregnancy diet, to the first 40 days, this baby parenting book truly does have it all. The ideal gift for expectant mothers who are seeking a healthy and happy pregnancy both prenatal and postnatal, and a must-have pregnancy gift for mothers-to-be seeking a detailed account of labour, birth, and exploring all the options available during pregnancy care. This week-by-week pregnancy book will show you how to keep healthy during pregnancy, what foods to avoid, how to exercise safely, and how to navigate common concerns and prepare for complications. It has fully updated medical advice and Q&As with experts and moms that will help put your mind at ease.

We love it for its detailed index, which makes it effortless to browse through and find specific sections when you need them. It also has a week-by-week guide on the baby’s development, all written in a conversational tone that makes it feel as though you’re having a chat with your best friend. Key concept : A month-by-month guide through pregnancy, including a week-by-week rundown on baby’s development, and other lifestyle trends such as the lowdown on vitamins, baby bump posting, multiple pregnancies and breastfeeding.Key concept : A timeline of the pregnancy journey using images, boxouts and listicles to help describe possible pregnancy symptoms, exercise techniques and much more. In my opinion, a good pregnancy book is a pregnancy must have. Mind Over Mother, by Anna Mathur: The best pregnancy book to prepare you for the fourth trimester and beyond Hypnobirthing has been around for over 30 years, with methods and techniques evolving over time. Plenty of women swear by this movement, with some even claiming that childbirth can be euphoric. Whatever your journey into motherhood, this book on hypnobirthing is a great read and can apply to all types of births. It’s a fun, informative read that touches on, among other things, the science behind labour. Key concept : A guide to support any woman, whether in the first or third trimester, helping to bring the science of pregnancy to real life. Louise covers complex subjects such as the nervous system during pregnancy, the journey a baby takes when passing through the birth canal and anatomical facts on breastfeeding. What to Expect When You’re Expecting, by Heidi Murkoff: The best pregnancy book for month-by-month coverage Preparing to become a mother, or a mum-of-more, is never easy. In this helpful book, Mathur hones in on her own personal experiences and covers definitions of anxiety, examples of intrusive thoughts, and preparing for the whirlwind of emotions that comes with parenting, as well as how to deal with them. The author, a psychotherapist and a mother herself, immediately draws you in with her knowledge in this relatable must-read.

There’s already enough to complete on your neverending to-do list before the baby arrives, and the last thing you want is an overload of information that could leave you more confused than before. Anxiety can take over at any time, which is why we recommend reading Anna Mathur’s Mind Over Mother during pregnancy. This book is aimed at helping mothers get a better understanding of mental health during pregnancy, before meeting their new bundle of joy. The Pregnancy Day-By-Day will be your pregnancy bible - every day. Count down your pregnancy with expert advice and clear, comprehensive answers to all your questions and concerns. The chapters at the end of the book are very thorough ones about birth itself including pain relief options and detailed descriptions (and images!) of the different stages of birth. There’s also information about different types of assisted deliveries, inductions, multiple births and Cesarean sections. Then there’s information about what happens straight after your baby is born and the first 12 hours after. It’s so important to know as much as possible about labour and giving birth. It can really help you make informed decisions and I also believe that it will help prepare you mentally for the pain and the whole process. Overall, I would highly recommend this book as a really nice gift to anyone going through pregnancy as it's very approachable. It's the only pregnancy book I read, as the last thing I wanted to do was slog through "What to Expect" or any of those more in-depth books, as a Google search could generally answer all my questions. Then again, I'm past my due date and I've never once called my midwife so maybe I'm just too casual about the whole thing. "No blood, no problem" is my pregnancy motto. :)

After the introduction, the book starts with a chapter about having a healthy pregnancy. This covers your pregnancy diet with lots of great advice, information about exercise in pregnancy, relationships, illnesses, medications, lifestyle hazards, travel and how your skin, hair and nails can change during pregnancy. Day by day, detailed artworks and fetal images will show your baby's development with remarkable clarity. As you get closer to your due date, the book explores all the options available for your labor and birth so you can make the right choice with confidence. This insightful book also breaks down your delivery and the first 12 hours after childbirth. The day-by-day format continues for the first two weeks of life with your newborn baby. So which pregnancy books are the best? From books for first-time mums, to guides about positive birthing, hypnobirthing, home births, water births and the fourth trimester, there’s a huge variety on the market to choose from. We’ve reviewed some of the best pregnancy books around and also provide a brief guide about what to look for when shopping for them. Then the day by day guide starts. It begins on day 1 of your pregnancy which is actually when you’re not even pregnant. Day 1 is the first day of your menstrual cycle and the first 14 days takes you through what’s happening in your body, through to ovulation and possible conception with plenty of helpful information about your cycle and trying to conceive.
