Description

Inspector Salvo Montalbano is in charge of the state police station in Vigàta, a fictional town in the fictional province of Montelusa (see locations) in Sicily, Southern Italy. In Vigàta within a few days, three old ladies are attacked by a thief on a motorcycle with a helmet. The final episode was actually filmed in Agrigento, where Camilleri was born, and Ragusa, both in southern Sicily. Later that night, an electrician, Ignazio Cucchiara, is found murdered in Vigata, and the case is handled by Mimì Augello, Montalbano's second-in-command. Montalbano has to eliminate many possible suspects, and think outside the box to figure out how the murderer was able to get away undetected.

Ominously, the Di Giovanni couple are rehearsing their local production of Shakespeare’s “Romeo and Juliet”. The written novels have been adapted into a popular television series in Italy, which has been broadcasted on Italian television (Rai) and dubbed into several languages for international distribution. Il Commissario Montalbano è da record: ecco i 5 motivi per cui il poliziotto di Vigata piace a tutti" (in Italian). The father hired an assassin who found the pair together and killed them, and Lillo in turn killed the assassin.Montalbano and Fazio quickly identify him as Gerardo Nicotra, an accountant with the construction company working on the pipeline. And whether it’s at Enzo’s, Montalbano’s favorite seaside restaurant, or seeing the dishes at home prepared by his housekeeper, Adelina, the series always conveys the detective’s appreciation of good Sicilian food that can make your mouth water just watching. Montalbano's friend, the elderly school principal Burgio, tells Montalbano that the cave and surrounding land belonged to the family of his school friend, Lillo Rizzitano.

In 2017, Marcello Perrachio , who played a lead role as the forensic pathologist in thirty episodes, passed away. The Inspector Montalbano ( Italian: Il commissario Montalbano [il kommisˈsaːrjo montalˈbaːno]) television series are Italian police procedural stories.Montalbano investigates criminal acts which he always manages to solve by reconstruction thanks to his intelligence and the help of his team which includes his deputy, Domenico 'Mimì' Augello, Giuseppe Fazio, Galluzzo, and Agatino Catarella. After 14 seasons, 22 years, and many more shots of espresso than firearms discharged, on Saturday police procedural Inspector Montalbano (BBC Four) came to a feature-length conclusion. The Commissioner can count on two women who worked with the accountant Gargano; the first is a student who had sensed that something was not right, the other is the secretary of the accountant and is convinced of the innocence of the accountant. To understand the crime, Salvo plunges into a strange world of people literally possessed, if only by passion for the theater. Montalbano suspicious will ask for the collaboration of the investigations of an officer of the harbor master : Laura, a beautiful and intelligent young woman who will lose the compass to the commissioner who will fall in love, fortunately and unexpectedly in love, like a passionate and jealous teenager struck by the classic love at first sight.

The next theft is from the safe of a jeweller named Pierrera, who is later found dead, having committed suicide. This victim loved her cat and her goldfinch very much, thanks to which the Commissioner finds out what really happened. There was the usual opera buffa cameo from uniformed officer Catarella and his moustached serial philanderer colleague Mimi but truthfully this leave taking was a knowing celebration of everything the inspector stands for; wry humour, eye-rolling irritation, extravagant passion and of course, a good lunch. The genuine anger at the Salvo Montalbano character for the shabby and out of character treatment of Livia is a testament to how deeply fans have come to be engaged with the show. We aren’t too familiar with many television series but this one looks like the type we would love to see.Get ready to immerse yourself in the captivating world of the most famous Italian, Detective Montalbano, as the highly anticipated new episodes of this beloved Sicilian mystery series hit the screen. If you love this series, you’ll want to read this article in Crime Reads about the series and its creator, Andrea Camilleri. As an avid watcher of the “inspector Montalbano” series, I was disappointed when the dvd eventually arrived, when I noticed it was ‘Detective Montalbano’ on the cover - very suspicious!
