The Chalke History Festival announces a new name, new look, and tons for history buffs to get their teeth into! What it lacks in originality is partially made up for with very likable characters and quality acting. Two time frames sit, initially a huge distance apart until the past begins to travel towards the present, with each new piece of information slotting into place and adding to the suspense. Both of them love rom-coms and they use this to discuss the guy who was staring hard at Cleo who proves to be Heath Sawyer.

There’s a lot of character build up and scene setting at the start so it did take me a while to understand where the story was going, but I found Cleo such an original and intriguing character that I was absolutely hooked by her story.

Although this is a clever, multi layered slow burner there are some jaw to the floor reveals with information bombs that explode your expectations and opinions of certain characters.

The ending hammers home with short sharp shocking chapters until I was finally able to take a huge intake of breath. I was totally gripped throughout the reading wondering why main character and successful author Cleo was dismantling her. The plot was unique and unpredictable, and the twist at the end which I completely did not see coming.

Cleo is a successful author, but the people in her life are dying the same way as the characters in her novels are. I really enjoyed this book just like all the other books I have read by Dorothy Koomson, however I did find myself feeling this much was much like the few before this one.
