I needed to change the strings because the factory set (9-42) was really cheap and the guitar didn’t stay in tune. Thanks to the correct relief from factory, I was able to get great low-string action. Tuners look beautiful, but are a bit below the average when compare to other guitars from this price range. They are not terrible and applying graphite to nut helps a little bit, so the tuning instability was partially the fault of the nut. But still, fine-tuning and overall tuning stability is not the best, but definitely not terrible either.

One thing of concern was the delivery by your selected freight company. After taking two days to come from Sydney to Toowoomba, it took a further FIVE days before I received it.First, the volume knob affects your sound only from 5-10. It turns to silent when you reach 4, so it doesn’t give that good control over the volume. For me, this doesn’t really matter since I mostly adjust the tone knobs and only sometimes turn the volume to around 8 instead of 10. The bag plus all the accessories that came with the guitar are great for someone just starting out on learning to play. The amplifier was surprisingly good. Due to its small and lightweight construction, I thought It would be useless. I was wrong. The cleans are nice and bright. The distortion is adequate for a beginner. I love the fact that it has rechargeable battery power which makes it very portable.

As mentioned before, the body type of DST-152 is Strat-style. It is a solid-body guitar with a poplar body and polyurethane body finish. Poplar is a great material for cost-effective guitars as it is lightweight and performs well acoustically. I rate this guitar 4.5 out of 5 for its sound and feel with the offered price. It can be preferred by younger musicians as well as adults as their first instruments. But, as it is a bit of a heavy guitar, it may not be suitable for kids. In general, they are no worse than other cheap guitars but don’t expect perfection either. Are Donner Guitars Good for Beginners? A couple of things that are not great for beginners are the bad setup and poor quality control that can happen. 95% of these issues are really small or you can fix the issues by yourself if you watch couple Youtube tutorials, but when starting out, any extra hassle can be annoying.

One of the most important things for me and my small hands is the playability of the guitar. And I was pleasantly surprised by the playability of this donner. Yamaha is famous for its great guitars for reasonable prices, and the Yamaha Pacifica Series PAC112J is no different. It is a popular beginner guitar model due to its quality construction and parts, simple design, decent sound, and, before all, great price. The weight is a bit heavy for me, but this is my preference. It is not a very heavy guitar and would be okay for most of the players. However, the nut should be changed as the plastic nuts are not good in the long term. L'amplificateur n'est pas génial mais c'est en fait un ampli gratuit et il fait vraiment l'affaire. Finally, another con, a bit rough fret edges below the 11th fret I already mentioned in the “Hardware”-section. Again, this didn’t bother me too much, but it’s still something that needs to be pointed out and takes a bit out of the playability score too.

I had to admit that the crunch tones were the ones I least enjoyed with this Donner, but it doesn’t mean this axe sounds bad with crunch, it just was just not my favorite use for this guitar. But crunch tones of this axe are still really good for the price. We can see that Donner is really trying hard to produce a decent guitar. This isn’t just throwing parts together and hoping they don’t fall apart – it’s clear to see that this is a company that cares about building a brand and a customer base; the NAMM booth was a big hint about this goal.
