Description

If a creature (including the basilisk) looks at the basilisk's eyes indirectly, such as through a reflection or through an opaque material like a ghost's body, the creature must immediately make the save but can only be petrified by the gaze, even if they fail the save by 5 or more. Despair Aura. Any being that enters within 60 feet of a dementor for the first time on a turn or starts its turn there must succeed on a DC 15 Wisdom saving throw or take 5 (1d10) psychic damage and be frightened for as long as it is within 60 feet of a dementor. While it is frightened, a target takes 5 (1d10) psychic damage at the start of each of its turns as it relives its worst memories. A target reduced to 0 hit points as a result of this damage automatically stabilizes. A creature can only suffer this damage once per round. If there are multiple dementors within 60 feet Hover over the cage of books to make the books flutter and find The Monster Book of Monsters near the bottom.

Legacy of the Monster Book

Manticore – A carnivorous creature with the head of a human, body of a lion, a stinger tail like a scorpion, and is capable of human speech, or a scorpion-like creature with five eyes and three tails that can spray an unidentified flaming substance, which can grow to sizes comparable to a dragon, Dark Entities. Dementors are believed to be formed from the negative emotions of humans, much like poltergeists. Dementors grow like fungi in dark places filled with decay. Large groups of them will be surrounded by a freezing mist that rolls across the countryside like fog, affecting entire populations with their negative energy.

Frightful Presence. Each creature of the dragon's choice that is within 120 feet and aware of it must succeed on a DC 15 Wisdom saving throw or become frightened for 1 minute. A creature can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on itself on a success. If a creature's saving throw is successful or the effect ends for it, the creature is immune to the dragon's Frightful Presence for the next 24 hours. Condition Immunities charmed, frightened, grappled, paralyzed, petrified, prone, restrained, stunned Ghosts are very sensitive about their condition: when the Ministry initially classified them as sentient creatures with full legal rights, [15] they claimed that the term was insensitive and received a separate "Spirit Division", [HPF] apparently to control the activities and haunting locations of troublesome ghosts (as when Myrtle was forced to haunt the place of her death at Hogwarts after she had disrupted the wedding of the brother of Olive Hornby, a girl who had teased her at school). [HP2] Named Ghost charactersSome creatures appear to fit the qualifications that define a Being and are capable of intelligent speech, such as Acromantulas, Sphinxes, Manticores, and Erklings, but have not been offered Being status due to their extremely violent and even lethal tendencies, which interferes with their role in a lawful society. They are thus classified as Beasts. Acromantulas Condition Immunities charmed, exhaustion, frightened, grappled, paralyzed, petrified, prone, restrained, stunned, unconscious Peeves, the Hogwarts poltergeist, is not considered a ghost, but an "indestructible spirit of chaos" according to Rowling. [16] Giants [ edit ] Fire Crab – Despite its name, the Fire Crab resembles a cross between a tortoise and a crab. It shoots fire from its rear-end when threatened.

Start with the pudding as it will need time to reach room temperature. You can make the pudding the evening before you make the cake, cover it with cling film directly on the surface to prevent it from forming skin, and let it on the counter until the next day. This way you can be sure it has the right temperature. Obscurials first came into notice when wizard-kind was persecuted by non-magical users. In an attempt to hide their true nature and blend in with society, their pain would cause their magic to manifest into an obscurus. As such, obscurials are feared even among witches and wizards, who see them as not only destructive, but a threat to the International Statute of Secrecy. Even today, the creation of obscurials persists through the persecution of magical peoples all across the world. Before beginning your Harry Potter inspired journey, there are some materials you must gather. We started this project using the Digilent Robotic Box Monster Kit, which included our white box and other goodies for later use. While this instructable will only feature the creation of our Monster Book of Monster exterior, stay tuned for a follow up instructable using the included Box Monster Kit electronics. Undead Fortitude. If damage reduces the inferius to 0 hit points, it must make a Constitution saving throw with a DC of 5 + the damage taken, unless the damage is from a critical hit. On a success, the inferius drops to 1 hit point instead. Actions Forest Troll – A race of green-skinned trolls with four fingers and three toes and hair that are native to forests and woodlands.

Fear of Roosters. A basilisk that starts its turn within 120 feet of a rooster must make a DC 20 Wisdom saving throw or become frightened of the rooster for 1 minute. The basilisk can repeat this saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending this effect on a success. If the basilisk hears the crow of a rooster it must succeed on a DC 25 Constitution saving throw or drop to 0 hit points. This book blank is four-inches by six-inches by one-inch, but you can use any book, by adjusting the patterns to fit.

In the Harry Potter universe, a Boggart is an amortal shape-shifter non-being that takes on the form of its intended victim's worst fear. While British mythology describes boggarts as house-elves who cause trouble or malevolent beings inhabiting marshes or other lonely spots, Rowling's boggarts are more like Fuaths, magical creatures originating from Scotland. However, there is one record of an English ( Lancashire) boggart which could take the form of various animals, or indeed more fearful creatures. [11] The word boggart was recorded in the Survey of English Dialects across Cheshire, Derbyshire, Lancashire and Yorkshire as a bogey man. [12] Incorporeal Movement. The swarm can move through objects as if they were difficult terrain. It takes 5 (1d10) force damage if it ends its turn inside an object. Hogwarts has a herd in the nearby Forbidden Forest and primarily uses them to pull the carriages that transport students to and from the Hogsmeade train station. They are introduced to Care of Magical Creatures students in the fifth year by Hagrid in the same year that Harry becomes able to see them after witnessing the death of Cedric Diggory, some months after it occurred. Harry only sees these beasts after he sees Cedric die, yet it is stated (in both the books and the films) that he witnessed his mother die in front of him at the age of one; therefore he logically should have been able to see them throughout the entire series, or should have started seeing them at the start of the summer holidays of that year. When asked about this discrepancy, Rowling responded that when Harry saw his mother die, he was young and did not fully understand the meaning of death and what had happened. When he saw Cedric die, he fully understood what had happened, and had time to think about it before he returned to Hogwarts and saw the Thestrals for the first time. [28] Kappa – A Japanese river demon. It can exit the water for short periods of time using the hole in its head to store water. One is seen as an attraction at the Circus Arcanus in France in The Crimes of Grindelwald, where Credence is asked to clean it. Legendary Resistance (1/Day). If the inferius fails a saving throw, it can choose to succeed instead.
