Any Due or penalty C/M shall be automatically written off. If a player sinks an opponent's piece, that player loses a turn. If a player sinks an opponent's last carrom piece they lose the board and three points are deducted from their score.

Carrom pieces returned to the centre can be put on top of other Carrom pieces within the main circle if there is not enough space to lay them flat. If the striker comes to rest under a Carrom piece move it carefully so as not to disturb the board more than necessary. Both the Queen and a penalty piece are returned to the centre circle

Several companies made copies of Haskell's carrom game board. The Transogram Company made a version in the 1950s and called it Skooker. [22] Coleco made reproductions in the 1980s with names like "Carom-playing Games Board" with up to 202 derived replication games. [22] Some variants in the 1970s were called "101 Games Board" and "Carom-playing 166 Games Board". [22] An ice-box manufacturer made "Combinola" and "Crokinola" variants. [22] Cultural depictions [ edit ] The Asian Carrom Federation is the governing body of all these individual confederations. It plays the lead role in conducting carrom championship for SAARC countries every year. A player’s turn continues as long as Carrom men continue to be potted. When a player fails to pot or commits a foul, their turn ends and play passes to the opponent. In Doubles, during the course of a board, the partners are not allowed to talk or communicate with each other by gestures. If the striker does not leave both lines, the player has another chance. After three tries without leaving the lines the player loses their turn. [19] The following dimensions vary considerably and are given only as an example of a tournament board. A Karom board is a square smooth flat wooden board that can be 72cm or 74cm square and which should be positioned 60 - 70cm above the ground. In each corner is a circular hole that can be 51mm in diameter and underneath each hole is a net to catch the pieces in a similar way to a snooker table. Two lines are drawn on the table along the diagonals. These are the "foul lines". In the centre are two concentric circles - the centre circle is the size of a piece, the main circle having a diameter about six times larger. Outside the circles and a short way in from each side of the board are two straight lines parallel with the edge of the board. They should be about 3.8cm apart and the long thin area between them is terminated just before the diagonal foul lines at either end by a red circle of 3.8cm diameter. This thin rectangle with circles at either end is called the "baseline" and the baseline nearest to a player is the area that the player's striker must be played from.Games similar to carrom include pichenotte, pitchnut, crokinole, Chapayev, novuss and button football. After sinking the striker, your opponent places the due piece(s) within the center circle. If you haven’t sunk one yet, you owe one. Tokyu-ban which means 'fight ball board’ in English is a type of carrom that is played in some part of Japan. Carrom - Tournaments Carrom is a popular indoor game, believed to have originated in India in the 18 th century. Widely played across the Indian subcontinent, Carrom requires a good sense of angles and superlative precision and concentration. It was once played − mostly by children and ladies − for amusement, but now it is being played at competitive level in an organized manner. Objective One can touch any coin. However, if the player touches their last piece directly before the queen, penalty will be imposed.

If this isn’t done the Queen will be returned to the board. Being the first player to cover the Queen will also net you more points. So, both players will normally aim to be the first to cover the Queen. Setting Up A group of Carrom lovers grouped together in 2004 and established the Pakistani Carrom Federation or PCF. While striking, players should ensure that only their playing arm rests on the board and no other part of the body is touching the board.

Put your hand on the board and your index finger near the edge of the striker. Use your thumb to create pressure on the index finger. Once you release the index finger, the striker will move forward to strike the carrommen. You must adjust your hand’s direction to the board’s position to play. Using this method to create a potent shot is also common. Cutting Style with Scissors iii. The removal of powder from the playing surface by way of blowing, wiping or any other way shall not be permitted. If the space becomes available for placing the Due or penalty C/M during the turn of the player eligible to place, the placing shall be made immediately. When carrom is played at a professional level in tournaments, there is only one fixed format, i.e., Board. However, carrom can be played in other ways too, but they are predominantly meant for amusement. Board While placing the Due or penalty C/M, if a player places his own C/M by mistake, it has to be rectified, if pointed out by the Umpire or the opponent. A foul shall be declared as per the Laws. However, if not noticed either by the Umpire or the opponent before the next stroke is made, the C/M so placed shall be regarded as valid.
