Nessah: Yes. My OCD was something I had lived with since I was a young kid. (Although I had no idea it was OCD or indeed what OCD even was.) Growing up in the 90s and early noughties, with no internet and not as many people talking about mental health, I basically thought I was some kind of monster. There’s a history of mental ill health in my family, but I had no idea that intrusive thoughts were a thing. So I remember being so ashamed and not being able to tell anybody the true extent of the thoughts I was experiencing. I may have tried once or twice but the look of horror on people’s faces made me feel unable to speak out about it. Daniel Ings as Owain, the champion of Dumnonia who is an experienced but dishonest veteran warrior and one of Mordred's three protectors. [9] The series acts as a retelling of the Arthurian legends and takes place in Post-Roman Dark Age Britain, where the warlord Arthur Pendragon has been banished while Saxons invade and a child-king sits unprotected on the throne. In its first iteration, Model Behaviour was a stage show. Knowles took it to Edinburgh in 2018, at which point she says it “grew legs and started leading its own life”. She has been developing it for television with Carnival Films, producer of Downton Abbey, since February. In 2020, Daze’s efforts to support young people struggling with eco-anxiety led her to lobby the Royal College of Psychiatrists to recognize this issue. She conducted research and developed tools to help those affected by it. Additionally, she initiated a successful Judicial review against the UK government, compelling them to release a Net-Zero Strategy ahead of COP26. As a founding member of Extinction Rebellion’s youth branch, Daze has been a driving force for climate justice. She previously served as the Director and Creative Director of Earthrise Studio, a creative agency dedicated to communicating the climate crisis. Streeting, Louisa (4 October 2022). "Medieval TV set to be at Blaise Castle until Christmas". Bristollive. One day the façade finally fell, it all got too much and at a health visitor appointment I fully broke down. The health visitor was supportive as was my GP, but in the end I said I just think I need to go to A&E. From here my local mental health crisis team took over, they came out every day, twice a day, and they were amazing. Knowing that someone else was coming was so reassuring. Family members and friends were also hugely supportive, they sat with me, effectively on suicide watch.

On 15 September 2022, filming took place in Wiltshire and near Bradford on Avon in South West England. [30] Local Bristol media reported on 30 September that parts of the Blaise Castle Estate in Henbury have been cordoned off as a filming location for this television drama. A specific area of Blaise Castle grounds have been transformed into a village with sets being built. [31] [32] On 11 October 2022, the filming moved to The Brabazon Hangars/ Filton Airfield north of Bristol. [33] Reception [ edit ] Following her birth, the thoughts weren’t as intense as I thought they might be, however, they were definitely there. I remember having moments when I was sliding down the door, as Maia does, feeling overwhelmed by it. There was never a major kind of crisis point, I just tried to push through and push through, but, amongst the joy, there was a lot of intense anxiety and worry. With my second child, however, the birth was very traumatic and that really triggered my OCD. Ellora Torchia (Maia), Damien Molony (Lenny) Theatre is his “first love” and the setting for the second act of his career. His Bush Theatre stage show Red Pitch tells the story of three football-mad teenagers coming to terms with gentrification in their neighbourhood. It has hoovered up awards, including clinching Williams the most promising playwright prize at the Evening Standard Theatre Awards. A compelling new play by Nessah Muthy about love, loneliness and guilt between three generations of women. It was inherent that we knit in the kind of ideology of the play into the way it was made,” she said. “[The making and writing of the play] were kind of in symbiosis, and should always be feeding each other. So [sustainability] was literally written into the DNA before I started writing.” After plying her trade and gaining valuable experience in writers’ rooms for several high-profi le series, Nessah Muthy has secured her own show with Channel 5 and Story Films,The Hunted. As I got more and more poorly with my second child however, it grew increasingly difficult to tell where exactly the thoughts were coming from and, truly scary to admit they might be manifesting inside my own brain. probably one of the most sensitive portrayals of dementia seen on stage. It doesn’t tiptoe around it, but it never seems to take advantage of it either…. a lovely, emotive piece of theatre.’ For theatre, Nessah is currently under commission to the Young Vic, Actors Touring Company (ATC), National Youth Theatre, Theatre Centre, The Brit School, Fuel, COMMON, Boundless Theatre and English Touring Theatre (ETT).

Nessah’s co-written 4 part thriller for Channel 5/Story Films has recently wrapped along with her episode of Grantchester (Series 9) for ITV/Kudos. The play manages to be sustainable by encouraging audience members to provide props from what they’ve brought with them, and Muthy said that it was essential that eco-consciousness be woven into the production. Each year around 10 to 15 writers are partnered with independent production companies.Throughout the year, the writers attend masterclasses and workshops with established television writers and production teams while developing and writing their script. The aim is that the writer’s series or serial will be taken into full development by the BBC. The BBC TV Drama Writers’ Programme is an epic project that on both paper and in reality can only be described as a TV writers’ dream. Nessah: My personal story is ultimately a survival story and Cradled is too. I wanted to show that there is hope but also to create a strong and authentic portrayal of mental illness. Before I was diagnosed with OCD I didn’t know what it was and felt so ashamed, so raising awareness was so important to me. I remember going to mother and toddler groups and meeting other mums who were like: “oh, I take that drug too” or “I felt that too” just knowing you’re not alone in your experiences is so powerful. I hope Cradled will make people feel less alone and that even if you are experiencing what Maia is experiencing, you can get help, that you can get better. In 2023 she was listed in Deadline as A Rising Writer To Watch Out For and in Broadcast Magazine a Broadcast Hot Shot. Arthur believes Bedwin will be able to negotiate peace with Gorfydd. However, when Morgan and Derfel arrive in Powys, they discover Bedwin being crucified. A Christian mob accuses Nimue of poisoning them. They demand justice from Arthur. Although Muthy went in with an idea of the experiences she would draw from to inspire the play, she stressed that she was eager to learn during the writing process. Nicola Chang (Sound designer/Composer), Chi-San Howard (Movement Director) and Cindy Lin (Designer) are a part of the creative teams for all three productions.

Ken Nwosu as Sagramor, a fierce Numidian from Africa Nova and veteran of the old Roman army who has followed Arthur to Britain after the collapse of the Western Roman Empire. [7] The piece will home in on how profoundly we are bound into our relationship with food; how we structure pleasure around mealtimes. "It's very hard if we can't eat with someone," sighs De Angelis. "If my partner says he ate earlier, I'm devastated. I think: "Jesus, what am I going to do this evening?"
