His tenth novel, BAD DAD, was an immediate number one, following the triumph of THE MIDNIGHT GANG, the biggest-selling children’s book of 2016. Multi-talented David Walliams is the fastest growing children’s author in the UK market, selling an average of 20,000 books each week. He went to art school in Liverpool and has since worked as a typographer for design and advertising agencies.

Ebooks fulfilled through Glose cannot be printed, downloaded as PDF, or read in other digital readers (like Kindle or Nook). The story is thrilling and I went into another world of imagination after I started reading maybe that's why I got scared out of my wits when I saw the illustration of the witch's eyes. This delightfully dark offering from comedian-turned-bestselling author David Walliams is certain to entertain young readers. It follows in the vein of Roald Dahl stories, with delightfully quirky illustrations (in the Kindle version, at least), to accompany the at-times alarming story of 12-year old Alfie. Children would put a tooth under their pillow for the tooth fairy, but in the morning they would wake up to find. I thought this book was scary first when they have to close there eyes in assembly for a dentist it was really scary and i loved to because you showed how they really felt and their actions! This was SUCH a delightful book and SO enjoyable to read, I was SO sad to reach the end of it - I just wanted it to go on and on and on! Initially I had bought a few of the David Walliams books for my son as was recommended in the school read list.

In 2008 David’s first children’s book The Boy in the Dress was published, illustrated by Quentin Blake. With just a hint of modern technology, (not over done) this story could be set in any era - which is really the secret and type of stuff that makes classics that can be enjoyed for generations! Secondly , I would recommend this to everyone because the story is so well written and the imagination is nuts. David began his publishing career at HarperCollins in early 2008 with his debut novel, The Boy in the Dress, followed by Mr Stink in 2009, Billionaire Boy in 2010 and Gangsta Granny in 2011. The illustrations are FABULOUS from Tony Ross - they're SO full of life, enthusiasm, and in tune with each and every character - they could have been drawn by Walliams himself they seem so accurate and authentic to the personalities! Enter Miss Root, the demon dentist, a ghastly-looking dame of undeterminable age (though decidedly ancient), with a vampiric (white, to break the stereotype) cat, who is on a sinister mission involving lots of children's teeth and thwarted tooth-fairy gifts, which are replaced by dad slugs, live spiders, and even old men's toe nails. The people who read this made their own decision to get ths book, if they are frightened by the demon dentist, it's their problem not anyone elses. Tony Ross's illustrations work brilliantly with Walliams's text; there's plenty of fast-paced action; and the jokes are gleefully ghoulish (and often gross).

The dentist is a common phobia amongst children, and the more sensitive might find some of the more nightmarish scenes difficult to take, most notably when Alfie gets all his teeth removed without anaesthetic, his arms and legs held in place with metal cuffs. The book is littered with a colourful cast of characters, from Winnie the large, meddlesome social worker who has a penchant for loud clothing and romps around in a too-small moped; Raj, the neighbourhood newsagent with a timid heart of gold, and the totally guileless policeman, PC Plank. Even the characters that played a very small part had marked differences from each other and seemed real! It is in the company of frustratingly ineffective adults and truly perilous situations that Alfie shines in this delightful yet disturbing book. Alfie lives in a dilapidated bungalow with an invalid father, who fell ill when working in a coal mine, while his mother had passed on years ago.

Children are leaving their teeth for the tooth fairy and waking up to find odd things under their pillows! The latest jaw-achingly funny, number-one bestselling novel from David Walliams – now out in paperback. This last detail is the basis of the story and it may seem like an inconsequential nugget, but the brilliance of Williams's storycraft is how he manages to create a comedic situation from the rather dire circumstances of Alfie's life by focusing on this one area.I'm not rudely dissagreeing with the reviewer, but personally this book is sutable for children over 7, as littler children get more scared, including that there is some words they won't get. From the amusing `KNICKERGATE' encountered with Miss Hare; the mere sight of Winnie crawling through a hole and losing her clothes on the way to reveal a bright orange bra that would hold footballs - and large pink knickers that would house kids in a small tent - to the speeding of the social worker on her moped through the school corridors during the big chase - to hearing Winnie: 'Oh my word - look at the boy's teet' - Alfie: 'my teet? to mention just a mere handful of hilarious gems that will have you roll around the floor with laughter in this. Having started from humble origins, Joe’s father is now a billionaire, and Joe has everything he wants, except true friends. Children would put a tooth under their pillow for the tooth fairy, but in the morning they would wake up to find… a dead slug; a live spider; hundreds of earwigs creeping and crawling beneath their pillow.
